I believe I have a very awkward horse to fit, having major issues with our current saddle to the point I'm not riding in it any longer..

He seems to have relatively big shoulders, and a very forward girthline.. A lot of saddles like to move about on him, and his current saddle I bought fitted new is fitting snug behind his shoulder and scapula, and creeps forward which makes it 10x worse, had numerous physio appointments over the months and each time extremely sore shoulders come up. Its restricting his movement and his paces etc.

Someone told me about ASS Saddles in Skipton and say that Claire who owns it, specialises her saddles in awkward fitting horses. They're all made to measure, with own choice of flocking/flair, totally adjustable, designed to give maximum freedome and movement at the shoulder, but starting price is £1.6k

Think its got to the point now where we may be willing to look at saddles that price as we are sick of issues with them not fitting.. Just wanted to know if anyone had one or any experiences with them.. Thanks :)

I have an ASS saddle for my working cob. I must say it is quite the best saddle I have had. It made a big difference in the way my boy went. It is also mega comfortable for me. I chose the gp style with air. I paid about £1300 about a year ago but no matter how my young horse changes my saddle can be altered to his shape so I think it is money well spent. My only quibble would be the after care visits are a little expensive but as there are 3 of us on our yard with ASS saddles we tend to share visits. Hope this helps.

I just got one about 2 months ago. My horse has massive shoulders. He's going well in it and seems happy. Previously had a new Wow fitted which for some reason he did not get on with.

I got the Monoflap jump one.

I have a dressage monoflap and a gp one, I love my dressage one it is v comfy and has helped my position and lot. It is great that they're easily adjusted and Claire is a perfectionist and takes her time. I would agree that follow up visits are quite expensive, but Claire is v approachable and happy to advise over the phone/email.
