how do you assess your horses feet without a farriers help?

so, i need to write a step by step guide on how to assess your horses feet, any help? i know there is something to do with the degree of the hoof or something and whether they have a broken back or forward pastern? but thats all i know :/ HELP PLEASE...

Why do you need to write it?

Is it for assessing a bare or shod hoof?

I suggest you get a copy of hickmans farriery and read that.
