I love my current yard but my horse keeps having reoccurring colic and we cannot pinpoint why, however, it only happens when she goes out to graze, not when stabled.

With this in mind, the vets have suggested she may have an intolerance to something at our yard. I really don't want to leave but it looks like this may be the only thing left to try.

Can anyone recommend any yards in Leeds with good grazing, assisted DIY and an arena? I am currently at Grange Farm in Arthington, which is perfect for us, minus this potential issue.

Thanks in advance.

I'm rubbish on areas and where they are in relation to each other but I think there is / was spaces at Rigton Carr Farm nr Bardsey. I know a few people on there who seem happy with the place and from what they say there's grazing to burn and I know there's an outdoor school and nice hacking. Wood Farm in Scarcroft is another that has plenty of grazing land and their arena is beautiful, again I know a few people there but there's things about the setup that would drive me nuts. Don't think they offer services either. What used to be Newthorpe Equestrian nr South Milford is another that springs to mind as having plenty of grass. Definitely do assisted and have indoor and outdoor arenas of a very good size and gorgeous hacking. Rather pricey though and out in the middle of nowhere a bit (seriously considered moving my own horse there but the price was a tad out of my budget, distance was a bit more than I wanted to travel and I'd be stuffed getting there in bad weather).

Thank you. I think most of those will be a little far out, I should have mentioned closer to North Leeds. However, I had considered Wood Farm as that isn't too far and I used to share a horse there. I didn't think it was too bad and liked the massive fields but I know things have changed since I was there and I don't know what the set up is like now.

All I would say is be prepared to maintain your own fencing and carry your own water to the field (not sure this is true for every single field but certainly the person who I know there has had to divide the field up themselves and provide batteries to power the fencing as the electric hasn't worked for months, hence why the waterer isn't working and from what I know certain parts of the yard don't have power) and be prepared to have to overlook a lot of general random crap lying about that will never get moved (said friend had rubbish in her field that she had to fence around as she wasn't allowed to move it). I do agree that they have oodles of grazing and lovely big fields though and if it's only likely to be a short term thing then the other stuff would prob be cope able with.

Rigton Carr is closer to where you are currently than Wood Farm. It does have great grazing, and stone stables with friendly liveries. I would also echo Boulty on the weirdness of Wood Farm, it's an odd place! There's also Hooves on the Hill, which I'm not sure about having space but it's a lovely new yard with a great school and reasonable grazing

There's also this place which might have space, stables are older but the arena is great (and not really used that much) and seems to have plenty of grazing (it's not a riding school either!)

There's also a couple in Kirkby Overblow, but I don't have contact details for them :)

I forgot about hooves! Pretty sure they don't have spaces atm but it is a nice little yard right in the area you want and I know the person who does most of the day to day running of it for them and she's lovely

Thank you for your replies, sorry not been on here for a week or so.

I know where Hooves on the Hill is as used to hack past it, will enquire there, hadn't even thought about that. Will also look into the others, thank you for your suggestions :)
