Morning.
I am currently on a fantastic yard just outside of Chobham. I've been lucky enough to have had my horse living out over summer but this morning my YO has asked he start coming in overnight from Saturday.
This leaves me with a dilemma, yard is solely DIY with no on-site help. Last winter (I moved to the yard in September with a friend from the previous yard we were on) said friend bought my boy in for me Mon- Fri and I bought hers in Sat & Sun. However whilst my lad has lived out, she has started bringing some-one elses horse in for them, and has a sharer 2 days a week (Thurs & Fri) Sharer is very novicey and whilst my horse is generally polite to handle, he can have his moments & I'm not sure how confident I would be with the sharer bringing him in. Equally I don't want to ask my friend if she can go back to helping me out now she's helping other people too. (She won't accept payment for her help either)
The other side to this is that there will be 4 horses (including mine) in the field, all come in by 4 at the latest, often 2.30/3 in winter. This is too early for my horse and last winter my feed and bedding bills were astronomical too (my reason for turning him out overnight in 'summer') Due to a change in my circumstances I can't afford to have the same bills this year.
The field is too isolated (at the far end of the yard and all other horses in neighbouring fields are in by 5.30ish) to leave him out on his own till I can get there at 8pm-ish.
So, waffling done with, can anyone recommend either a grass livery yard (quite happy for him to live out all year round so long as there is sufficient grazing & shelter, either natural or artificial) or an assisted DIY yard that can bring him in during the week for me.
Not fussed on facilities, just friendly and must have good hacking. Beyond that anything is a bonus.
It would be preferable be able to go to the yard after work (so 8pm in the evenings some-times) and also early before work (normally about 6am, sometimes 5.30am) if needbe but I can be flexible with this dependant upon arrangements.
I have also liveried on private yards before & can provide references if anyone is willing to take a 'lodger' on and would be willing to help with others/owners horses in return for help.
(He's a 15.1hh welsh gelding, always top dog but never a bully if it makes any difference!)
I live in Woking town centre, I'm looking for somewhere about 25 minutes maximum away from there, don't mind which direction
Sorry it's long, but I'm panicking slightly and hoping a lovely HHO'er can come to my rescue!
Thanks
