ASSISTED/PART LIVERY IN COLCHESTER

Seriously anymore suggestions out there?
seems a difference in price and what you get for your money up here with assisted and part.

I would much prefer assisted DIY but i really want good turnout with good fencing, school for winter evenings to ride in.

I have called a few place's this evening, but prices all seem to be about the same but not getting much for it.. or so it seems to me anyway.

I much prefer word of mouth yards rather than those that continuously advertise.

Getting headache now looking for a yard lol...

cadbury's giant choc buttons are open... so please help yourself :D

Pete Tye yes I called him and left my number looks like a nice yard that.
I am right by the army barracks in Colchester, so Friday woods would be ideal as an area, but unsure of any yards around there.

Anyone know of Crepping hall farm livery?.... what it is like? - i think it is going to be a little too far though.

crikey i honestly didn't think yard hunting would be this difficult lol

Pete has got a great reputation and the right side of town for you, the Garrison would be ok for you, probably 15 mins but its a huge yard. I know a few people up there and its ok.

Knowles Cottage is a small yard, about 15 mins from you, lovely new fencing, menage and fantastic hacking in that area. I can give you her contact details if you like?

If you go into Kiln Saddlery and speak to Gloria she may be able to point you in the right direction of someone locally as well

Good luck

Thank you Tricksy, I believe Knowle have no space's available.

I shall try Pete Tye once again tomorrow, I shall be popping into saddlery tomorrow also to see what they have on their board and to pick a few bits up.

I've just ordered him a lovely new headcoller and leadrope set and me a new grooming kit as I have nothing left from my old lad, so bit exciting starting it all again.

Need to find a plastic D handle shavings fork somewhere - these are great for me to use with my duff back lol.

Seriously cannot wait to get him home for lots of unlimited cuddles.

I bet you are so excited :O) Gloria should be able to help or ask David in Kiln, they are really helpful.

Good luck finding somewhere, look forward to seeing lots of pics :O)

There is a private livery yard next door but one from Kingswood park next door to kiln They have nice stables, good fencing, menage and direct off road hacking and offer assisted diy. You could prob get their details at Kiln.

I think her number is 01206 271257.

They do DIY, assisted and full livery I think. The hacking is great, plus you'd be just round the corner to me :D

That's Jane's place. I've got a contact number for her if you need it?

Crepping Hall is a nice yard but on EAFR routes so you need a licence to use these routes. Have quite a few friends there - not sure if Jane has any space at the moment though. I used to keep my boy there, but in the end the travelling there and back got a bit much.

This is Potters Meadow, run by Mr & Mrs Knowles. Yes the hacking is fantastic, straight out on to quiet bridleway network, but they have far too many horses on the land, so individual paddocks are too small for a horse and you will need to supplement the grazing with hay all year round pretty much. No decent school also. They have a small XC area and some show jumps on grass, but the "school" is woodchip surface just put down on grass/earth.

And there are SO many rules you wouldn't believe it!

(I speak from experience!)

Crepping Hall does seem like it might be a mission everyday.

Potters Meadow has no space's, my neighbour has her mare there and I really would like a school to use for winter evenings.

I shall try jean browns yard then thanks :)
Will be popping to kiln today to get what i can

David was really helpful this morning I have picked up a couple of other bits whilst in there, this new horsey is going to be soo spoilt. lol

I'm viewing pete tye's yard in the morning especially after hearing nothing but good things about his place.

There was a place in Great Wigborough?.... will be calling them again later as lady was out.
so a couple to ring around and arrange a viewing.
