Just a quick post about our trip to Onley for the Associated Championships last week.
We qualified really early on in the year at both Novice and Prelim and then typically our dressage has been reduced to bugger all due to various problems which meant we went having done zero prep.
I would like to say a massive well done to the team at Onley for putting this mammoth show on. Whilst I'm sure there were a few gripes (having seen a few on the unofficial BD FB page) I personally think they did a super job. Full credit to those involved who would have been working hours to keep up with it all. I was there Saturday and my test was at 8.47pm and I wasn't even the last! I personally really like Onley as a venue, ticks all the boxes for me! I wouldn't be upset to see it held in the same way again next year and if people did have issues they should be sent as constructive feedback to the organisers rather than whinging on FB.
My tests were awful no way round it, I was nervous too which never helps, amazing how quickly you can lose that competition confidence. Still I remembered each one (although did forget both G&R in the novice lol) and finished. We can do better and now I'm hoping now we can have a better run at some more consistent training! And get back out each month to the local venues to find that groove again.
I'm lucky in that the section I'm in is very small compared to the others (PBA) so I was very lucky as even though we came last in each class we still took home a rosette!
Another pro pic for the collection and a plaque to proudly display on the stable door
