Hi all
My 25 year old cob has asthma for a few years & seems particularly bad this year. I tried several respiratory supplements but didn't really help . Vet has given ventapaulmin which has worked instantly but has suggested giving human asthma treatment via baby asthma chamber. I know there are various human asthma puffers - some red & some blue - not sure what the difference is and are any better than others .
Thank you

Did your vet not suggest any specific inhalers? Basically there are ones designed to open up the airways (which is what ventipulmin does) and then there are steroid ones which are designed to reduce inflammation in the lungs.

Ventolin is given out to humans often to open the airways but my vet reckoned he hadn’t seen very good results with it in horses. He liked one called Atrovent. I think there are quite a few steroid ones to choose from. I’m sure your vet will be able to advise further though.

You can't buy them without a prescription, so your vet will give you a prescription for the one he thinks he should have.

They worked well with my friend's horse.
