What a flipping day Ive had... will keep it short...
Was teaching a friend first thing, drove to the yard only for my car to start losing power!!
ARGH
Get to yard, warning lights on, ring Hartwell, completely unhelpful, tell me I have to get my car to them! and by 1pm or it wont be looked at until Monday - Oh and we cannot give you a hire car either...
AA man arrives, the nicest person ever - whilst i was teaching friend - car was apparently misfiring a cylinder so he followed me to garage.
Friend stables horse in my stables and we drive to garage. Hartwell, again totally unhelpful, bar the guy i bought the car from.
Thankfully after an hour car is fine and mended - FINGERS X
So now zoom back, finish off friends lesson but now I was unable to jump snoop - as friend needed to go off.
Anyway, get home after 12, have lunch and zip to Aston to walk the course.
Arrive at the start to meet friend i taught earlier as shes doing the intro on Monday to find that the course for Sunday and Monday isnt ready for walking due to the course being made up of championship fences ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Its now gone 3pm and they are just starting the PN championship, so we decided to walk the course regardless to see whats instore although some of the fences would be changed.
Well, first fences a nice hedge, over the bridge into the dew pond field, nice simple chair fence then to the novice flower bed at 3
Fence 4 is a log into the water through the water and up over a big skinny roll top with bush on the top.
Fence 5 was tyres and fence six over a new bank and over a cabin at the top with a drop the other side.
Fence 7 was another roll top at the top of a mound turn right down hill over a skinny.
Next was a fairly decent sized oxer then fence 9 the road closed fence onto a trakener at 10.
Fence 11 was the rugby ball posts which are usually used in the Novice, onto a big hedge. Fence 13 was a new fence, hanging log on the top of a mound drop 5 strides up the other side to another hanging log - turn left to a fairly decent corner.
Next up was a nice big skinny set of roll tops and then into the main jumps field where we have to jump the ruddy rugby ball
this again is a novice fence then up over a cabin into water and over an angled log before jumping ditch and rail, up over a hanging log down into the 3rd water and then over another hanging log and on to a simple log to finish.
All in all 20 fences and blooming loads of combinations and the ground is hard!
The championship course was way over 6min long, the coure was tough, but fantastic for a championship at this level.
There was an addtional loop for the championship which made the fence total to 22. The intro too is pretty beefy, but kind and i think will be perfect imo.
The sjing thankfully is nice but god knows where the dressage is.....
Thankfully on the way home mum promised to help me jump the raskle and although we nearly came to grief when he stood on a pole
he jumped well and worked sweetly through his dresage test.
So now home, have loads of tack to clean and supper to make YAWN.
I dont hold out much hope tomorrow tbh, but we will just try and get round.
Good luck to everyone and hope this will be of some help to those who are riding there tomorrow and monday.
