Have just been discharged from the fracture clinic!! 17 months going to them and now I dont have to! He has told me the pain I have is not because of the break in the bone but of the damage to the discs above and below, and its something that will always be there, and will get worse, but can be controlled with pain killers.
So, after a **** week, I feel something has at last gone right!!!

Its just a good feeling to know the pain that I have now is normal, and expected! So I can stop worrying!

Good news!!
Sorry - am not quite up to speed but is this a direct result of an accident you had when you lost your loan horse after being hit by a car? And this was 17 months ago!! Good grief! You poor thing and I'm even angrier on your behalf at the sentences that were passed down (mentioned on another thread).
I am humbled (is that the right word??) by your happiness at being told that the pain you now experience is "normal" and controllable with painkillers!!

my mum has damaged disks. have a look into getting a type of epidural, they can stop the pain for up to 6 months.

It is kind of a light at the end of a tunnel. I have been worrying the past few weeks of a real sharp pain over the spot where I have the metalwork, and I really thought something had moved. But with everything else that has been going on, I kind of tried to ignore it. So now the worry has gone cos I know its ok for it to be there. I guess I have just learnt to live with it the best I can.

I know obviously it's a personal matter but I really hope you have had or are getting one large compensation payment for this fromr his insurance company?! If you are going to be left with ongoing pain indefinitely then that is certainly worth a lot. I work in insurance and see a heck of a lot of claims for lesser injuries and the settlements are pretty high. Obviously it's not compensation for what you have gone through mentally and what you have lost but it's something that could help you in the long run.
