As many know i'm from Jersey and well just over a year ago there was the whole 'doping' scandal by the 'BSJA mum' over there.

Well by vast majority the club members at the EGM tonight have banned her for at least 4 years. I expect some form of appeal etc will follow so bringing it back up but the members have spoken just a shame it took so long to reach this point.

I'd have banned her for life I'm afraid..

your not the only one...

Basically from what is understood she is banned from the showground for 4 years and from membership for at least 4, i believe at the expiration of 4 years she could be refused membership dependant on circumstances....

I have no idea how any English BSJA memberships she has will be affected though as they are entirely independent to Jersey.

Well that's a better report than appeared in the Daily Mail. According to them she was banned from all 'gymkhana events' for four years..............

oh yes the newspaper stories have been laughable. apparently more people can visualise a gymkhana than a showjumping show. although our JAs only jump 1m05/1m10 thats still a more than respectable height and no 'gymkhana'.

Also although the majority this evening did indeed Ban her the various reports suggested she had already been banned before tonight's EGM which was totally false.

Just will be glad to see the back of it all. It is bad enough for me (you can imagine the questions from non horsey work colleagues for starters!) never mind everyone back at home.

I think everyone is hoping that this is the end of it now.

Do most of you equstrian folk in Jersey tend to know one another?

you could well say that! shall we just say for the EGM the vast majority of voting members turned up (i.e. those over 18) and there was just in excess of 100.

Most people will do most disciplines due to lack of events so within reason everyone indeed knows everyone else. tis a very small island after all

Whilst I wholly support the ban that this 'mum' has been given, I do wonder in reality what effect it will actually have

A certain 'dealer' from the Sussex area was banned for 5 years a few years ago for an incident at Hickstead but his horses (and offspring) still managed to compete on the circuit in that time

Where there's a will (and or a rich connection

Does that mean her kid can't compete BSJA though as well? (dont juniors have to have a parents as a member to compete?). Would be rather a shame to stop the kid riding due to her stupid act.

No kid is still allowed to compete, his grandparents are members are allowed to act as his guardians for events.
