AT & Le Samurai clip back on net

It is in the past - she has got the necessary punishment - yes, it was cruel, but maybe in the heat of the moment, she didn't notice the full extent - she was 150m or so from the end, adrenalin pumping etc.
There is no way that I am saying what she did was alright, but it may have just been a mistake. She has been riding for many years, and although a tragic accident, something that she will never ever do again. I would say leave it - her string of horses has been drastically reduced, and her lifetime ambition killed, as well as a great horse.

It's interesting that Eventermen said that she has suffered enough. I wonder if her career has taken a real knock because of this incident.

Mmm I would like to hear more about that actually, what her reception in the states has been like.

In my opinion though, seeing as she still has a top quality string of horses and has a bunch of advanced events lined up, she certainly hasn't suffered as much as she deserved for what she did.

I cant see how it would have done anything else really.

Unlike others who have been excluded from teams or prosecuted in the past and have moved abroad and started again, the world is now a very small place.

(Their names havent been forgotten either.)

I remain horrified by her actions and response to the incident. Her sanctions were much too lenient and I do not respect her as a horse woman and I question her integrity in light of her comments and actions in the following period. I will not forget this incident and indeed I hope it remains prominent in the minds of the eventing community however I do not feel that it is in the best interests of the sport, which is currently under close examination, to re-open this issue.

Conversely I actually think in the light of recent events it should remain in the public eye.

Theres a wider picture regarding safety on the course and one thing I believe should remain high on the adgenda is welfare.

I do absolutely believe welfare should be high on the agenda.

My point is that this event has occured and the FEI dealt with it in the way that they choose to. We can not hold this incident up as the sole case where horse welfare sufferred.

If horse welfare is the issue then all cases of poor or catastrophic rider decision making should be presented and examined together. The focus on one incident of an especially perverse nature is not especially helpful IMO.

I agree this is one from a catalogue of many over the years. However it was and remains high profile given the people and the horse involved.

Im certainly not suggesting the whole thing should be raked over again.

Absolutely. she is absolutely not a horsewoman. a beginner should have felt that, and done something about it. a lot of us have been high on adrenalin, but would never ever have done that. having finally seen it now, after all this time, i am incredulous and disgusted at the FEI's decisions over the matter.

I have never seen the clip before and always thought people were perhaps making a mountain out of a molehill. However having seen that I am absolutely appalled that she carried on.

My gorgeous old horse broke down out hunting. We were galloping across a field and I felt it happen and his stride change totally. I got off as soon as we had pulled up and that was it. He was PTS the next day. You know when something like that has happened whether you are a novice or highly experienced, whether you are eventing or racing. You know.

What a stupid cow she is.

All comments aside-nothing is going to bring that horse back, and in the eyes of the FEI she has served her 'time'. You can't be tried twice....but as has been said....people have long memories and thats a punishment that will run indefinatley.
