One of my fields is never used any more because I only have one section a to house. I don't often need to go down to the field but after a two week holiday I ventured down there to walk the dogs and the field is PLASTERED in ragwort!! It was not like that when I used it and I just feel like crying because I have no idea how the best way is to get rid of it. Digging did work in my top field but that was only a few plants- this is a whole field covered in the horrid stuff! I don't have any farmers living near me that I could ask to spray the field so I'm totally stumped. Is there anyone that can be rung and will just tear up the field and re-lay it? I'm so frustrated and upset about the state of a once nice field.

I spent years pulling all mine by hand (over 8 acres) and every year it would be back just as badly. It was heartbreaking. For the last 2 years I have had it sprayed. This year didn't bother and I am totally ragwort free. Will probabaly spray it again next year just to keep it in check.
I would ask around and try to find a farmer who will spray for you. It's probably too late this year as you need to get it while it's small.

Ye I think my best option may be to put up an advert early next year at the farm shop for a farmer to spray the field. At the moment just the sight of the field is depressing me. In the meantime I'm going to try and pull up as much as I can...wish me luck (although I don't have to clear 8 acres luckily :) )
