:( Is it just me or is 2010 cursed?
Both myself and my partner lost our jobs so now were back with his mum and dad in the North West, unfun may I say, and we have had no luck finding new jobs. I am desperate to get back into grooming but cant find a job that fits, dont mind moving around the country so long as OH can come but just cant find the right fit.
So far this year my top comp horse developed navic, was covered but didnt take and now its too late to try again, my new 4 yr hurt his tendon and is out of work for 3 months, 5 yr old is generally being a brat and due to loss if jobs cant afford lessons to help sort things out.

Sorry for silly ranting post but im feeling so low at the moment its untrue.

I hope your all having a better year than me :(:(

I feel your pain, I got made redundant last year and am currently on a temporary contract. My boss just had a massive (very audible) argument with the MD about keeping me here (I did like my boss' argument of “......and she's nice!” though).

My horse is coughing, OH's horse is lame. :(

Just seen Lloyds TSB have made a profit this year (from all my overdaft charges last year when I was out of work no doubt, yeah, out of work because of the the financial crisis caused by the ******** banks).

Somehow, I just managed (very painfully) to pull the top of my thumbnail off.

and............I've got to walk to the station in the rain. :(

BUT, the lorry passed it's MOT so is ok for one year and OH is cooking tonight. :)

I can only recommend a good Friday night blast on cheap plonk and a kiss/cuddle with OH/horses.

It will get better, it will get better.....................:D

I am not sure if you want sympathy as I am not terribly good at that but all I can say is things will get better. At least you still have 3 horses, a home and a OH many people in your situation are not so lucky.

Erm let you decide lol!
I have a job that is a good laugh but one guy is making it hell on earth. My spinal op didn't quite work last year (October) so going for my 3rd procedure on it at some point. And I can't find anything to loan atm either :(

So I no how you feel! It just varies in problems I guess lol
**hugs**

I think sometimes everything that can go wrong does and it all happens at once so I totally sympathise with how your feeling, I had one of those years in 2007.

I think you just have to ride the rough storm and eventually waters will calm, things will fall back into place in time, just be patient.

Good luck in finding a new job and your horse will come right again soon....after you've spent 3 months of doing nothing but spending money on it....just they way it goes sometimes.

Keep ya hin up me dear ((hugs)))

Yep Im right with you on 2010 being a pants year!! Im lucky in that I have a job (PT) and that one of my mares caught after a rather stressful period of not cycling, but I have zero money....I actually owe the bank rather a lot of money ....and a nice fat vets bill has just dropped through the letter box!
My big girl is broken and costing a fortune in danilon....thank God the insurance is still covering her!!
The owner of the land&barn we rent is a witch...a pedantic witch
It will get better....... It will get better...... It will cus if it gets a lot worse I may just spit my dummy out!! lol! xx

2010-not a good year. Best friend died.

TBH, living at home must mean you are saving if you're working and if you can't find a job that fits, get out there and find something to keep you going. Hope it all gets better.

Im not the only one then, I know it could be a lot worse but you know that feeling when its one bad day after another :(

Bl**dy banks are nothing but trouble, my OH is in debt up to his ears due to them(Im not coz im tightfisted) and its making our lives even more hell.
Im hounding all the groom jobs I can find, literally hounding the poor employers lol I do feel sorry for them.

I hope the year perks up for everyone else as well. and your right Rosehip f it gets any worse I may well spit my dummy out lol xx

I really shouldnt moan, people are much worse off than me....I mean, Im only £900 over drawn on a 1k limit, and have a £184 vet bill to pay....They'l just have to wait a bit and accept installments!!
I came very very close to chucking all my toys right out of my pram yesterday when the land owner had one of her 'words' with me.... Right, Im off to polish the fecking SHEEP SHED to her satisfaction!! (can you tell Im a tad riled??!!) Chin up, have a choccy bar! Im in comfort eating mode!!!xx

I've had a couple of rough years to be honest but always try and greet the world with a smile no matter how pants I feel.

Saying that after trying everything for him my gorgeous old horse I know he will not be with me next year. Nothing else really matters when your faced with the thought of loosing your best friend. :(

Sorry to hear about your c*appy year. I had the most awful year last year, This year has been alot better for me though.
Hopefully 2011 will be better for you, your family and your horses.

sorry to hear lots of people are having a bad year!
im not having a fab year, but i cant complain, some things have gone right!
fingers crossed that the year will end fab for you all :D xx

I've had a pretty crappy 2 years to be honest - my grandmother, grandfather, father and brother all died (my brother 3 weeks before my wedding). My mum got burgled 3 weeks after Dad's funeral. Having to have my TB pts this weekend. Broke my leg in Jan falling off out hunting. Can't sell horse.

But then again, I did get married 6 weeks ago, I do have a job, been offered a loan horse to hunt for a bit and have great friends so life isn't as awful as it could be!!

And I DON'T have PMT today which I did have earlier this week and everything was just too much. It all seems more manageable today!!

Thanks for kind replies everyone, i was just wallowing in self pity and being miserable. Must keep chin up it could all be much worse. Was unexpectedly offered some teaching work tonight and will get another 3 days out of it, so thats a bit of money toward my vets bill :-) felt like it was someone trying to let me know things will get better I just have to wait it out.

Lila we will def have to have a girls night, lots of wine and gossip lol

Carolineb- Im so sorry, it sounds like your having a really tough time. My uncle died the week before last cant even bring myself to talk about it yet :-( lots of hugs I cant even imagine what your going through. fingers crossed it turns a corner and we can all be smiling by the end of the year.

Hi again!

Not quite as bad as yours, but new mare has to go back to hospital again on Friday as snotty nose has started again...not good seeing as I wanted to sell her before winter, so DIY livery here I come!

Bought new car in April (not new, new, but new to me!)- has been in garage 3 times for repairs and another for when I reversed into a colleagues car on the car park at work.

Horsebox broken down about 3 times - total cost of repairs since last September £1600

Credit card bill very high with no means of really paying it off in any hurry.

I saw a job advertised somewhere in North Yorks today when I was looking on the internet for a rider/groom for professional dressage rider. It was a live in position.....do you want me to see if I can find it again? (Probably won't be able to as I was looking for something totally different when it came up!)

I have to admit. 2010 For me has been an amazing year, and i dont want it to end :D
but like others have said it can only get better :D
and least you have a OH and a family, and food and horses.
Think positive! not negative :D

Oh can I join in and have a moan please??!!

I've had a really rough 2 yrs tbh.
Back end of last year my old boy, and love of my life fractured his leg badly, it was touch and go, but he made it after the worst 8 months of my life, and his im sure! hurraaaah you hear me say, NO he is now back on 2 months box rest with a ripped muscle in his butt after getting double barrelled!! *screams*

Then my comp horse went lame, farrier put shoe on too tight!! was sound for 3 days, yes 3 days, then got kicked, developed a bad case of cellulitis and now 3 months on were only just competing again!

Then had to take the dog the vets this morning, she has kennel cough, never been in a
sodding kennel in her life!!! GREAT!!! (i know it doesnt only come from kennels lol)

And so were meant to be moving house on Friday, after nearly losing the sale 3 times, the solicitor calls up saying they have c0cked up some paper work so we cant move in till its sorted, so we have to be out of our house by midday friday with nowhere to go! cue all stuff going into storage! *screams again*

I know there are millions of people worse off, and I am very lucky in lots of ways, but i've just about had my fill of bad luck!

Hope it all improves for eveyone else and sorry to go on lol, just needed to vent x

Thanks Rebelzmum-your a star! Hope your girly is better soon? Could you not try Leahurst or Nantwich?

Bills- Oh no, so frustrating moving a the best of times, b****y solicitors!!

I think us insane people who have horses make it 10 times harder for ourselves as well, but we wouldnt be without them :)

I've just realised how badly I hijacked your post - sorry aboout that *cringe*

I agree we do make it harder for ourselves 4faults but your right without the horses it wouldnt be all worth while would it!

Onwards and upwards as they say!! It's just a bit foggy on the way lol :D

lol 'just a bit foggy on the way' I love that!

You havent hijacked, everyone should be able to have a rant, and I know I feel better getting it off my chest on here to likeminded people than say letting it boil up and ending in a row with my OH or someone equally innocent :)

Right with you on that one! I hope our years improve!
Begining of March, my saddle was stolen, fair enough made a claim on the insurance went to try new saddles and on the way there the horse decided he didn't like travelling anymore, cue two month struggle and reinjuring himself twice, eventually got him travelling again when I was in the main bit of my GCSEs, couldn't go out, day of last exam, got home to be told my mum had found a lump on her breast and they thought it was cancer, we are now two chemo treatments down the line with 4 more to go, a massectomy(sp)(breast off) and then a session of radiotherapy everyday for a month :(
Along the way Red was of for a two weeks due to saddle and then injury to his leg, then lameness for a week and then time off due to a respiratory infection, then we both had a fall last Tuesday and had 4 days off due to me having a bit of whiplash, phew
Anyway, I remain positive that this year will end well with my Mum and horse fit and well and us back out again full time :) Until then I will just have to appreciate how lucky I am that my parents sacrifice some of their wages to fund my gorgeous horse who I love to pieces, I think without him I would be having a mental breakdown, it's nice to escape from the cancer for a few hours with my wonderful friends at the yard, especially on a hack with my best friend of all <3

Rrr Redcascade thats :( hugs for you and lots of <<<<<vibes>>>>>> for your mum, my grandad is currently undergoing treatment for skin cancer and its very scary, couldnt imagine life without him. I hope your whole family(including horsey) have a much better year next year xx
