did you buy your daughter their first pony? We are toying with the idea at the moment and don't know wether now is too early? My girls are just turned 5!! what do you guys think?
i started at 4 on borrowed ponies, but neither of my parents were remotely horsey or interested. I got my first horse at 13 when deemed old enough to look after it myself.
I am thinking of getting pony for my little boy next year when he turns 4, if he stays as keen as he is now.
5 i would say is a lovley age.
Isn't there some reccomendation that riding should be postponed until about 7 because of physical development? That aside, if they get given a pony now, before they really have time to think about wanting one, what are they going to plague you about when they are 8 or 9
hmmmm.. sounds as if you could have twins then if they have just turned 5
if so - yay - another twin person!
Cant help with the question though as i still have my 2nd pony who is a shetland so i already have the pony waiting for when my boys are a little older.
I was three when my mum and her friend bought a Shettie for me and friend's daughter to share. I loved it and by the time I was 5 or 6 I was sooo confident!
It's not too early Katie. I know plenty of people who had ponies at a far younger age and benefited enormously. I think animals in general are a great way of teaching children responsibility and 5 is quite old enough to start learning about that! If you, as the parent, are ready then go for it!! They'll have lots of fun,,,
