At what point would you buy a baby a decent saddle

I bought a thorowgood T4 ponyclub saddle for our youngster to be backed/broken.
He is now hacking daily and has changed shape a lot. The saddler is due next week to check and adjust the synthetic saddle properly and its a nice saddle it will do for now!

I do want to get him a decent leather saddle at some point tho' even if its second hand.
When would be the time to do this?

I did exactly the same as you and previously bought an adjustable saddle for our 3-4 yo. I think he was rising 5 when I bought him his 'proper' saddle. I don't know if thats any help?

Not til 7 or 8 as they wont stop 100% changing shape until then. Although they will still change after that...

I dont really do expensive saddles!!

Hey - i have had a T4 for a couple of years now. My newbie is rising 6 and i have just upgraded to the Kent & Masters leather GP. Same tree system etc just leather.
Wouldn;t make the change till at least then, but it you do buy one that is fully adjustable then you could do it now!
Bates do one aswell as the K&M ones!

My 10 year old is still in his synthetic Isabelle Werth. Tried him in both an Albion and Ideal Jessica but he is better in the Wintec.
