Atherstone hunter trials

I'm tempted to do it this year but I've heard the beginners 2'6 course is a lot bigger than you think, has anyone done it here that could give me some advice?? I've got a 14.2 we've done a couple of 70cm/80cm hunter trials but just at riding clubs. My boy is confident following another horse but I don't want to scare him, or me if it's too much for us, I want to do it so bad though..

It is a bit bigger than 2'6 - but it is fairly inviting and a lovely course. There is one rather large drop towards the end that usually rides well.

Have a look on youtube for some of the Novice rounds in previous years; the course won't change much.
