URGENT posted by June Threlfall. Christmas Day.
GAMESLEY, HIGH PEAK, DERBYSHIRE - ALERT. If anyone can help with a search for a dog that has been hung in the woods opposite Winster Mews. The dog has escaped by breaking the branch but it is wounded, by the time we got there the dog had gone. Please can anyone help.

June is at 40 Winster Mews on 07843148573

Can you help search for this dog on Boxing Day 26th December'12.

I doubt it is a hoax. The cruelty and unkindness has truly escalated before Christmas. Uneducated low life's who should not be allowed near any animal. Really hope they find the dog and what is the betting is that it's another poor Staffie x .

This was my initial thoughts on the matter too. Grim times for many animals at the moment. I really cannot comprehend how people can be so cruel.

The most recent update I can find is this:

@doglostprteam: Missing hung dog: Trail tracked to locked property on outskirts of Gamesley. Further investigations pending.

Poor thing. Hopefully owners of the property will allow search team to track their land. The poor dog must be terrified and in pain. Poor, poor thing.

Yes and positive. Tweeted by the local police force and Rochdale dog rescue. False alarm, it was a dog out walking with its owner and it was playing with a branch. Thank heavens.

Series of tweets from PC 3399 David Collier, of Gamesley and St Johns Safer Neighbourhood Team:

@GamesleySNT: Busy shift working on this #Gamesley dog incident! UPDATE - The dog is fine as this report was not as first seems! Dog was not hanging....

@GamesleySNT: The dog was out with its owner and it was playing, trying to pull the branch off the tree. The dog is not injured & is fine. #chinesewhispers

@GamesleySNT: I have spent hours on this over the past couple of days, as a dog owner I am pleased there are no injured dogs! #worthit #Glossop
Thank goodness! I wonder if the dogs owner has any idea how much fuss this all caused  it's funny how things can spiral like this!

Edited to add: the Chinese whispers aspect of this is really alarming, as it was originally reported that the dog was seriously injured but this clearly wasn't the case at any point...
