A very close gamekeeper friend of mines wife posted the following on facebook yesterday , they live not far from Winchester and the kennels are like fort knox with Ziggy a pitbull guard dog running loose in the main run before you get to the spaniels, labs and terriers :
"Had the dog thieves break in last night. They were in a green Subaru and apparently have been seen around the area a lot. They didn't take the dogs, but they did hurt our guard dog & we know they will be back. Be very careful people... They went to great lengths to get in; ripped down a section of our fence, cut through steel bars & bolt cropped the locks off. It was frightening, and I'm still shaking now. If you see a green Subaru, reg X478 BUJ in this area PHONE IT IN. 101 or 999."
this is what she posted later on :
"they outran 6 police cars & used a lamp to blind an officer. We are also pretty certain they tried to electrocute the dog... They want more than shooting. The police actually seemed scared to take it any further"
"Update... The vehicle has no registered owner (no surprise) and has been involved in 3 high speed pursuits in 10 days. Its coming down from the Thames valley & if its seen in this area it is looking to steal dogs or whatever else. Call it in the minute you see it! 999 or 101. And thank you to everyone lending support... You know how many friends you have at times like this!"
