I have just been out with a couple of friends for dinner, at about 9.30 one of them got a call from a neighbour to say that gypsies had pulled a tree across the lane outside her farm and attempted to steal horses from behind her fields. Our friend rushed home as her Mum was alone at their house. We rang her as soon as she got home and all her stable doors had been opened but luckily all her horses are safe and the police were there, her fields back onto ours Our yard owner has been informed and hopefully they have been scared off, so worrying.

Not as far as I know, I think someone drove up the lane, couldn't get past the tree, got out to investigate and saw them in the field and called the police. Apparently they were trying to steal arabs so all horses are obviously now a target

Probably because there are 3 council sites within 5 minutes of these yards. Don't start a racist argument on here, this is very worrying for everyone with horses in this area.

I was just told yesterday (by a local man who always seems to know of thefts etc going on) of some men who were caught photographing some horses (some coloureds) belonging to a farmer up the road from us. The men were approached and were apparently quite aggressive so the police were called.

Apparently (and this is from said local man - not quite sure how he always seems to have the goss) the horses are being shipped to the Arabs as coloureds are very fashionable! I have not heard this 'theory' before but find it quite interesting and rather bizarre!

We are in Yorkshire btw. I have not seen anything suspicious myself but am keeping my eyes peeled now. Previously I was taking these sightings with a pinch of salt but there appears to be some truth in it and too many incidents for it just to be gossip.
