Aubiose on concrete

Potentially getting a new pony (hurrah!) and found a lovely livery yard but they don't have rubber matting in their stables. I'm particularly interested in using aubiose as I used to share a horse on this bedding and thought it was fantastic. However, is it more effective to have it on rubber matting or will it work just fine on concrete? I'm already budgeting everything for the new pony (starting from scratch) so I'm a bit stretched financially but want to prioritise the important things to invest in.

why dont you just get a couple of bits of matting for the middle of the bed and bank the auboise around it .ive done this before when i couldnt manage a stable full of matting straight away and it works fine ,you can even drill and screw it down to keep it in place , then at least you know the horse wont be on bare concrete if they scrape up the bed

I had my horse on albiose straight on to concrete with no issues. But it was semi deep littered, I only took the wet out once a week, but I found the bed worked much better that way.

Thanks for the tips! Yes it's a bit expensive to kit out the whole stable! But I know aubiose can compact down a solid base which made me wonder if I could get away with it on concrete, at least until I'be saved up enough to invest in to rubber matting.

Echo that you need to semi deep litter otherwise works out more expensive. I used for years but price went up and up so eventually changed to Miscanthus which I find equally good but a few pounds cheaper per bale

I love my rubber matting, saves a lot of money on bedding in the long run. My pony's a bit dim and I can see him injuring himself/slipping over if he was just on concrete, so I would go for rubber matting and a scattering of shavings over a deep bed and concrete.
