Can I post a link here? I don't want in trouble.

A place fairly local has put all it's trekking ponies & cobs up for auction. I'm not sure why, I would imagine they've gone in to administration or had some difficulties like that. A lot of the horses are a bit older. My heart is weeping though at the bigger one who is laminitic prone and bidding started at £2 for her :( :( If I had my own land and all that.... I can't afford another livery at the moment. There's some tack too.

I would definitely buy her for £2 but she’d never fit in me stables. 😢

Can you see what sort of prices they are going for?

Don't think you'll get in trouble, there's a link to this on the sales thread already.

How can you see what prices they're at? I'm not seeing any numbers.

All the bids will shoot in at the last second.

I don't see much to be upset about. They are being honest about them.

Riding school horses will have a following of past riders who will be keen to rehome them. I'm sure they will be fine.

Thank you for sharing.

Any that folk think look good? I need a new pony 🫣 but have no idea what I’m actually looking at 😂🙄
Tricky to get much from an arena video of a horse that's rarely in an arena.

Delilah might be a bit small for you but she over tracks nicely and looks well-balanced to me. She also reminds me of a mare I used to know so am quite biased. Tommy's another that caught my eye (again, reminds me of a horse I used to know), but I'd want to see him canter a big circle on the right rein, out in the open, before I made any big decisions. Badger's nice but had a weight limit of 13st which makes one wonder what his back's like.

Tbf I think all of them would manage a lifestyle happy hacking quite nicely, though a couple of the older ones do look stiff and you do have to wonder why the shod ones are shod.

Sure, I worked at a RS. I know what it's like. Hundreds of people who'd love to buy their favourite pony, but you can count on one hand the number of them that'd be able to look after them well once they're in a new environment. Besides, it's never a nice sight to see an older herd get split up.

Oh I'm so sad about the mare. Eltra Amber was the last mare sold at Wigton sale many years ago from a wonderful stud. think she was about 6yo at the time, sold for about £700. I wanted her but she was slightly unlevel at the time (abcessed a few days later). she passed through a dealer and was sold for £2000 to the riding school I believe. She was beautiful. I hope she lands ok.

I know the trekking centre, it's quite local to me. The owners are retiring, no financial problems as far as I know. They absolutely adore all the ponies, and are only selling the ones that they think can handle going to new homes - there are plenty that they are keeping for a quiet retirement. I only know a few of the ponies in the sale, but if anyone needs any info, please feel free to pm me. It's a sad sale, but the owners are kind, genuine and very honest.

As has been said, sellers are very nice people who are retiring.

Most haven't reached their reserve prices vary from £300-£2000 at the moment
The serious bids won't go in until late morning. There were two viewing days & I'm told they were busy. I know a riding school that looked at three (don't know which three).

I can't see the prices , you must need to be logged in?

Thanks for the update. Glad to see most of them have been bought and are off to nice new homes. I wonder if any of them will stay locally?

Christ someone really loves Casey to be spending 13k on a bog standard 19yo.

Delilah is still reminding me of that mare I used to know. If only I had land.
I thought it must be a typo!

I once sold something for silly money on Ebay. Shortly after the bidding, the buyer gave backword saying a minor had used the computer. I wonder if this will be something similar?
