Is Thursday too early? Because I do actually have plans - although I'm in trouble because Mr sel has hired a digger to sort out our drainage before winter and I won't be around to bring tea and cakes. Oops.

The fat cobs have a busy few days. Baby cob is doing Intro C on Sunday. Its actually going to be quite a hard one for him because it has lots of circles and turns. I've had him hacking only for the past few weeks after watching a video snippet where he wasn't going off my leg properly and deciding he needed to be doing straight line work to see if the niggle settled. A 3 loop serpentine and 10m circles were a struggle at arena hire yesterday, not helped by the flies (give and take the inside rein was apparently the cue to have an itch). What he could really do with is a test where its all about getting a decent trot on a diagonal because that went really well yesterday! Tight turns not so much - but right now its all about life experience not chasing frillies. He was also a little superstar in the arena which is a far cry from when we first went there in May.

He is then off to do some clear round jumping at the same place on Tuesday. We haven't yet jumped a round and I've signed us up for x-poles and the 60cm. I have no idea how that is going to go......

Microcob is babysitting her 17.2h leggy warmblood friend tomorrow. I swear his rider looks like she's taking her child for a hack from behind. From in front they can see my wrinkles ;) I think I've found a good canter spot but he really is going to have to be brave and take the lead because no matter how fast a 13h pony thinks she can go, his legs are just too long to be behind her. I then want to practice some of my new kinesiology tape training on her. She is a very patient volunteer with the bodywork and will happily stand for hours, but the flies this week have been awful and taping a fidgeting pony just leads to me getting tangled up.

Finally I'm on a CPD course all day Saturday for Tellington Touch which I'm really looking forward to. Had the books for ages so it'll be fun doing some practice.

But also - how on earth is it the end of August already? It was dark at 8.30 last night

None for me personally, but I am going to the Edenbridge and Oxted show to support a friend showjumping. I just hope she's been practising her turns because my memory of those arenas is that they are super tight!

Good luck with the turns and circles - and the jumping! Will keep my fingers crossed for a stiff breeze to keep the flies away.

Sadie and I have our first ever lesson together booked for Monday. Only took almost 2 years and a friend has had to organise it for me because I'm chickensh*t to do it myself 😂

Will be bringing coffee and pastries so she is inclined to be nice to me and my haphazardly trained and very opinionated little bog cob.

En route to the RoR champs at Aintree. Road trip.

Good luck!

I am heading north to the dark Highlands for the Shetland Pony breed show which is being held at Black Isle this year. The 2 colts are going. I wouldn't normally take youngsters out 2 or 3 weekends in a row, especially boys. But Dempsey needed the practice and after this they will be on their holibobs. I have my show to run in September and I am not taking ponies as well as running the whole thing. Winter showing does not appeal in the slightest, especially with a Shetlands winter coat 😂😂😂

Thank you. Is Black Isle an island? Good luck.

Henry had the physio today, he's feeling good. He has the rest of the day off and either a light arena ride or a hack tomorrow. Sunday we are heading out into the country to look at a wedding venue for a friend (I am a bridesmaid, I'm so excited!) and I might do some wildflower hunting while we are there. Pretty low key for us!

😂 I have a photo of me and D next to one of her boyfriends who is 18hh and whose rider is 6 ft something. OH said we look like someone taking a toddler riding a Labrador for a walk.

I had a Franklin ball lesson this morning, which was super.

Long hack tomorrow - hoping to squeeze in both a pub stop and cake stop 🤣, Trec lesson on Sunday and another hack on Monday.

Desperately trying to squeeze in some Equipilates sessions in between the non-horsey stuff too but always seem to be a bit optimistic what I can fit in on a weekend ...

Have fun and good luck to all out and about this weekend :)

@MuddyMonster - I'm another who always tries to squeeze in more than I can manage!

Horse-wise I'm taking Chilli to a pole work clinic tomorrow and will do some hacking / schooling as well. I've been away with work this week so asked a young eventer (aka the yard's crash test dummy) to take him for a couple of canter sessions. Apparently he was 'spicy' for the first one, and if the eventer says that it must have been naga-hot rather than jalapeño-hot! At least he's got the tickle out of his toes and is hopefully ready to knuckle down now :)

With all the mane and floof I think I look like I'm on a spaniel! Needn't have worried about Mr long legs struggling to stay behind us in canter - they both threw in some bucks and then her little legs went like the clappers. No way was she letting him past!

The baby had his first lesson with our new trainer, who also happens to be a list 1 judge 👨‍⚖️

He was actually much better behaved than I expected, given that we’ve got building work going on right next to the indoor. Just the one tiny blip where he thought he was finished when we’d only stopped for a quick break as we couldn’t hear anyone talking over the rain on the roof.

He’s doing another intro tomorrow, and then Cas is going back later to do AM91.

Pics as I actually had someone to video for once:

This week's tiny victory's ..
☑️ raised poles without rushing or falling on our face
☑️Mounting without leaving me behind
☑️ Trotting alone
Enjoyed myself and realised when I get out of my own way I actually do vaguely remember what I'm doing.

Not mine but a quick snap of the reserve in the Silver medal final!
Enjoying Blair! Weather could have been a little better today but not much we can do about it! Caught up with a few friends yesterday and plied them with goodies/cookies/cake and gin! Always an opportunity to catch up with people we don't see often enough!

Today was a bit of training on the 80 acres at Somerford. I took bon and Charlie had his owners daughter riding. Bon started amazing, then his head just went west when he went to ride a bit of a challenging line. Unfortunately there was a big group of horses rode past us, he was very much out on his own and the fence was a hanging log - we had stops galore after that, he just was not subscribed at all.
We got ourselves sorted though, went and jumped a few little easy fences and settled back to it well.
Recently I had been jumping him more and I think it makes a big difference for him - he really needs a pop a couple of times a week, if he gets that he's really game on at hires and clinics. This last 10 days have been busy and I've hacked rather than jump which I now know was a mistake.
Hopefully we've chilled though as I've got him in the 50cm ode and Charlie in the 80cm at eland on Monday 🙈
Sensible people do a dressage for their first competition with a horse don't they 🤣
