Hi does anybody know if its worth taking my 3.5tn horsebox with to Australia? Can you drive it with a normal driving licence there too? What's the ground like in Melbourne? My boy does not cope too well with the hard ground like it was here this summer, so dry, so hard! I saw the comments on warmbloods, so what kinds of horses are affordable in Oz? how about ID's or Andalusian?

TBs are probably the most affordable, but they have studs for most breeds over there. I know a lady who bred andalusians, welshies and highlands

Don't know if its worth taking your box or not. Might be too hot to travel anything in unless it has air con/good vents in the back. Many trailers I saw over there didn't have roofs

My sister brought her jeep back from NZ when she returned 'Up North' plus washing machine etc etc because discovered it was cheaper to ship it back by boat than replace them up here. Not sure what the form is going the other way but when she took jeep to Ireland which is where she lives now she did have to pay import duty on the jeep (that goes with all vehicle imports to Ireland not just those from further afield.

You may have a job getting it registered, and parts may not be avalible!!! be sure to check with there transport dept as to tax and if they would allow it on the road over there and if it hasnt got air con it would be grim to drive in the 30+ heat .. the other thing is they are very no make that very very strict about dirt on things it would need to be steam cleaned not one bit of dirt anywhere, if your horse dosent like hard ground some parts a rock hard and some sandy I would ask about local conditions!!!! I think most people out there use a Float (trailer) to transport their horses and they have open slatted sides...
