Ive got the job of cleaning mine out tomorrow as it is awful. Its got moss growing in some corners.

Normally I just bucket it all out and give it a scrub with the broom, let it fill and take it all out again to get rid of the remaining crud. Im not able to turn my water supply to it off which makes it a bit tricky.

How does everyone else do it?

has any one ever used something like milton solution in it to sterilise it or do you just leave it alone.

just trying to think of a way to give it a deep clean safely.

thanks in advance.

Scoop all the water out, give the bottom + sides a good scrub, then get rid of the manky water that's left and leave to fill. Usually do it about once a month unless it's looking dirty before then. Takes 20 mins max and keeps the water nice and clean. :)

Sorry! Must have posted at the same time and missed your reply. Bit of confusion there! :)

I've never done anything other than scrub them out. How many horses are using it? We just have the three so ours stays fairly clean - although when the sheep are in with them it needs doing more frequently! TBH if it's regularly getting mucky it may just need doing more often?

for our field trough if im on my own i tie the bullcock up with twine so it doesnt refill then empty + scrub, swill out then refill.

if i have a friend one of us can hold the bullcock - simple!
