unfortunatly its the nature of how they work. is the trailer used often? if not then the brakes will become abit bindey. when reverseing with auto reverse brakes the brakes are comeing on but by the way they are set up when the drum is going backwards they will bind abit but should jump off. going uphill wont help much tho! a good service and clean out of the houseing should help the mechanism work better tho! that prob makes no sense?
dads looked at the brakes which are fine
it doesnt jump out either he reversed all the way up the hill bye bye clucth!!
he wondered whether it would be the adjustments but doesnt no what they should be?
I think you will find this is the norm. The auto reverse slipper in the brake drum will only allow the trailer to be pushed lightly on the flat or downhill, as soon as the weight of the trailer pushes heavy against the over-run damper the brakes will be full on.
the problem is if you back the breaks off to make it easier to reverse then you'll lose breaking force when going forward! how long have you had the trailer? has it only just started doing it? sounds like you may need to get a proper trailer mechanic to take a look, will work out cheaper than a new clutch!
owned for 1yr we havnt really used it as needed a new floor its a new tow hitch (Nott) the previous owners put on an oldrice we have done up they also put new brakes on
