Old user, new account as I forgot all my old log in details...

I'm looking to get rid of my Jeep and trailer as I have no need for two cars (I have a Prius for commuting) and instead get a box. I've got a pre 1997 licence so don't need to take a test. BUT I can only drive automatic due to a knackered knee from playing hockey as a kid!

So I'm looking for suggestions for automatic boxes that can take 2 x 16.2hh horses (weighing roughly 550kg each), plus driver / passenger / all tack etc.

I'm not to bothered about size as I'm used to managing a Grand Cherokee and ifor 510 in very small spaces. I'm thinking about a 4t / 5t.

I'd love to have a small bit of living, just enough to shelter from the rain - so a seat and a loo perhaps - for those long days at shows.

All thoughts on what to go for and what/who to avoid massively welcome. And any other suggestions.

Another automatic driver here - I looked for a 4t/5t 2nd hand auto nationwide for several months and drew a total blank. I then costed a 5t up as a no-frills new build on a 2nd hand auto chassis and realised at £35K+ inc VAT and chassis it was well over budget. I ended up with a 3.85 as I only drive one horse, which I know wouldn't work for you (with weekend living for one I have 1.2t payload to include fuel and water so not enough for 2 horses). If you do decide to go down the new-build-on-used-chassis route Hybred Horseboxes came highly recommended by the forum.

Thanks - will look at Hybred. I'd love a 3.5t as it'll be a lot easier and cheaper to maintain and run. But just couldn't manage the payload.
