Can you get a feeder/bucket that is on a timer for horses?
You can get them for cats!

Ive seen a couple on the internet, mostly in the usa.

Any that are a resonable price.

Maybe i should speak to an inventor!

OH asked if I'd like him to make me one the other day funnily enough. He recently made me a gadget that shuts the water off when filling water buckets and hay soakers, which has been a real time saver.
If you know someone who is quite practical, they might be able to make you an automatic feeder.

I have definitely seen them advertised at an event somewhere in the UK. Would be of no use to me as my horses would all destroy it to get to the food!

Yes, called a groom. RRP should be in line with minimum wage, however usually available 100% extra free, 2hrs for the price of 1. (just don't tell the groom that when you employ it!).

Its not that Im lazy!
I'm at the yard at 5am.
There 3 times a day usually until late.
Its just my horse needs extra food and it would be great to give him smaller feeds when he's in.

I think one I saw a while ago was a chrono feeder or something

Get the biggest auto dog/cat feeder you can find, fix upside down on a beam above the feed bucket/manger and when it pings the feed will fall in to the bucket

They do make metal chute type ones that fix to bars on the other side of the 'window' and drop food out the bottom... Expensive though!!

I can't remember the product name but have seen a company which makes these at a few of the bigger events, think they cost about £300 or £400 though!!!!!

Saw something interesting in Lyon last month, this dispenser gave out both hay and feed, up to four or five meals. no details sorry but it was being displayed on the Gaston Mercier stand.

Was at an inexpensive yard in Germany a few years ago and all the stables had them. They were great as you could program them to the number of times and the amount of food that was given out. One disadvantage is that the feed can't be dampened, which is something I wouldn't dream of not doing now.

Ive got one of these, bought it about 7 years ago for a horse that had terrible digestive problems and had to be in on box rest. It didnt work well for me as I was feeding chop and it wasnt heavy enough to trickle out in small amounts - you need to use a mix or cubes. Its just used as a wall manger now :)
