I know it's a tad early but I can't see a thread for this week and this time I have an actual competition to report back on. Granted, in classic me style, I have made it much bigger in my mind than it actually is - when I got my time yesterday I realised there's only four other people doing the same test as me. OH told me off for pointing that out and reminded me I didn't sign up for the competitive bit anyway so who cares how many/who else is there. Point taken.

After test is done I'm then off to another schoolmaster lesson. I think it's going to be a shared one. Depending on how that goes I'm looking at paying up for a Rider Confidence Clinic morning being put on at that RS next month, which would be a big step and one that felt impossible to contemplate even a couple of months ago.

I hope people are able to get out and about this weekend, between downpours and gusts! What's everyone got lined up?

I have nothing lined up apart from fixing the lorry ramp but I wanted to say how happy you sound @SaddlePsych'D compared to how nervous you used to be. Looking forward to the show write up 🙂
I hope the lorry repair goes smoothly!

I am certainly chipping away at the nerves. I don't really know how they got so bad tbh! Onwards and upwards though :)

Dum Dum is heading out showing on Saturday morning. Not a judge I particularly like but it's not often you a 2&3yo Colt only class. So we head to war. There's 4 entered in the class. I know 1 other for definite and can guess the 2 others.
Is this one of your Shetlands (apologies, I feel I ought to know this but it's hard to keep up whose got which pony/horse and I get confused sometimes!)

Yes he is now a strapping 3yo Colt who was a dummy foal when he was born - hence Dum Dum 😂

Co-hosting a Joe Midgley camp. It’s got another day to run but all great so far. Joe with Felix. View attachment 119410
I think I was looking at this to come as a spectator. A bit of a road trip but I'm fascinated by the Joe thread and sounds like a fab combo with the camp. What a great photo!

Normally hosting the pony camp tonight. It was postponed last week due to the rain.
Sunday I need to get Little Madam over some jumps, with or without an instructor. The riding school has gone into holiday mode, so normal lessons are cancelled and replaced by other during the week, great for the kids, some of which practically live on the yard at the minute (I should know, I used to be one of them many moons ago), but not so great for working adults. However my instructor has said he might be able to fit me in at the same time as his son on Sunday.

72%! Whaaaat!?

I went in thinking 60-65% would be great, came out thinking 60+ seemed likely, maybe the 65+, so it was a wonderful surprise to get the 70+. Comments on needing more activity definitely fair but I was pleased that I did try to ride positively and forwards in both warm up and test. The warm up was supervised/supported and we didn't canter but I do wonder if this might have helped us out a bit with the activity. Horse was such a good boy, I am so pleased with him. I think maybe scored kindly/encouragingly as I see lots to improve but do feel overall a job very well done and looking forward to the next one in two-weeks.

Constructive comments very welcome. Lots to learn and I'm so excited to actually have a comp to report on! :)

Mr D is getting fitter. Owner's younger daughter took him for a canter on the common yesterday, he behaved beautifully and enjoyed himself but was quite happy to knuckle down to a schooling session this morning and he felt great. Off to Gatcombe on Sunday but I can't find the entries anywhere. I was also looking for the entries for the Bughley YEH as owner's other daughter has a home bred entered. Any ideas where I can find it. TIA

I'm not up to riding right now, but I hope to transport BH to what was a planned lesson so I can watch the trainer ride him. I think it will be nice to have a low pressure social outing.
Didn't go to plan as Rigs needed the vet instead. I will do a report on his thread. With all else that is going on, it was all I needed !!!

Left home at 7.30am, back home by 10am 😂 I like that kind of showing 😂

Dum Dum was 2nd in his class, just pipped at the post by a nice Colt from a well known Stud. And once again his teeth were ever present as was his 5th leg and his mane was flying everywhere today 🙄 so he was not exactly dope on a rope like some in the ring 😂 but hey! We love a bit of flair and pizazz! He's not naughty by anyone stretch of the imagination - a Pest is more of an appropriate term. We didn't stay for the championships as I knew the weather would shortly turn and I don't do standing about getting soaked to my pants for no reason at all 😂😂😂

At the moment I am hiding in a stable from the rain. I really should be out rejigging some of the electric fencing for when Rains comes home later today.

Well done SPD!!!

I was very glad that I fought the urge to be a fair weather rider and schooled Chilli in the wind and rain today. He clearly thought working in bad weather isn’t in his contract and did a big nap 10 minutes into the session - I’m pleased we could work through it at home instead of dealing with it at a competition one day in the future! He went really well after that, still dodgy canter transitions but he didn’t get stressed about them.

Also got Indio in for a pamper, poor boy has been abandoned by his field mates who are all out competing today. Thankfully he’s not one to get stressy about it and he can see other horses, but he did look a bit forlorn.
