This is not a 'for sale' advert before i get shot down ;)

I know of a horse in need of a good home. Owner is not wanting to make any money from him.
He is a 17hh IDxTB gelding, 5yo. Has evented, jumped double clears at british novice and is a big scopey horse. Showed talent over a fence, but still unbalanced. Hacks alone and in company, excellent to deal with. Lovely lovely horse. Sadly he has gone lame, and due to his owners unfortunate personal circumstances (it's messy) cannot afford to investigate, and is contemplating having him PTS. Not extremely lame, just not quite right.

Just thought i would see if anyone knows anyone willing to take a chance on this guy, would certainly be a lovely companion/hack at the very least!

North Yorkshire. Pics and videos of him working a few months ago can be emailed.

Please PM for contact details

TBH I think PTS would be a better option for this poor horse. If she just gives him away it is almost certain he will end up 'buted' to the eyeballs and sold on to some unsuspecting new owner.:( - until even that isnt an option and then its off on the lorry for the long and horrific journey to the foreign abattoirs for meat.

A 'not quite right' lameness is often long and expensive to investigate and treat, more obvious lameness is generally easier to pin down and make decisions. I would be very doubtful if many genuine owners would take him on.

i agree with above post, the owner needs to take some responsibility and either find out whats wrong or PTS, in the current climate all manner of horses are being abused

Get her to contact Hope Pastures Sanctuary at Leeds. As well as rehoming their own horses they also can put people in touch. They often have homes waiting for horses which they dont have available at the sanctuary.

It could be worth a try.
