Hi,

I usually make the fly spray recipe that I got from here a few years ago which is:

5 caps of dettol - from a 500ml size bottle
250 ml of Avon Skin so Soft and fresh - (from 500 ml bath oil bottle)
2 teaspoons of citronella
2 teaspoons of eucalyptus oil
2 teaspoons of lavender oil
2 teaspoons of tea tree oil
2 teaspoons of cedarwood oil
then top up to 1 litre with water/tea

I have been on the Avon website and couldn't find the bath oil so I have bought the dry oil body spray (blue on) as I have seen many people recommend this.

So.... is it effective enough to use this spray by itself or do I use the original recipe but replace the bath oil with dry oil?

Thanks =)

i am sat here smelling beautiful of avon skin so soft - i have been using it neat on Chico and decided to give myself a spray of it today too. It's nice stuff!

I dilute it 50:50 as it can be quite irritating. My mare comes up in lumps if I spray it too close to her skin. It seems to work well enough on its own without addition of vinegar, citronella etc.

My other tip is just to make up a little at a time as it can crystalise and ruin your spray bottle!

I either use it on its own or use it with cold stewed tea, citronella, tea tree, drop of washing up liquid and white wine vinegar. I use 85% tea then 15% the other ingredients. Brilliant recipe and it's works unlike the expensive shop bought one. Skin so Soft is definitely worth buying though.

If it crystalises (due to it going below 10 degrees) just pop the bottle in the microwave for 1 min and bobs your uncle its liquid again.....just make sure you wait until its cooled down to spray onto your horse!
