Awful grey coat

i have a thin skinned grey mare whose coat looks awful due to black hairs growing where she has had a couple of scratches and also where she was clipped last summer for an iv and a stomach scan. My question is if I fully clipped her out would her coat even out or will the black hairs always remain as obvious. Any other suggestions?

My grey mare has a dark square where she was clipped for her microchip - it has never changed even though she has been totally clipped out at least 5 times since it was done. No idea why it's like that!! Dark hair from scars will not change for clipping, not sure about the hair from a very short clip. It is weird how it stays! My mares looks pretty odd, but it was a couple of years ago now and it did fade over this winter, perhaps it just takes longer to sort itself out?
