Farrier was supposed to come last night but was ill so came tonight instead... good job really. I drove down the lane and as I got near the field, saw her on 3 legs, looking at her tummy and pawing the floor a bit. I shouted her and she screamed at me, bless.

I went round to fetch them in and she was a really sad hobbly state. Farrier was there and said "abscess" straight away.

So she's in, shavings bed suddenly tripled in size, with a poulticed blue foot and can hardly hobble round her stable and is looking very sorry for herself, though still stuffing her chopsies.

So when I rode last week and she was so footsore on rough ground, well it was the start of this bruise... he thinks she stood on a nail about a week ago...

So I feel pretty horrible... have bought her lots of carrots and apples for tomorrow as she has to stay in. Poor ginge... I'm a bad mummy...

Hopes she gets better soon, usually once the abcess is drained the pain goes and it heals pretty quickly! Mine have had a few abcesses so I invested in a poultice boot which is great, means that they can still get turned out!!
