And my friends are using it to take their horse to Monty Roberts, I told my OH the battery's are knackered. Batts have been on charge and it won't start with a jump either. Am peed right off.
Once the batteries have completely failed then even with jump leads or a booster charger their internal resistance has broken down and in effect just short your leads out damaging the battery/alternator from the vehicle you are charging it with.
Your only choice is to get two new batteries and make sure that the battery terminals are clean on the inside where they fit round the battery terminals.
I'm in the same boat as you, my lorry's been out of action for the last three weeks cos I need new batteries and OH hasn't got round to getting them yet (Can't moan too much as he's paying, bummer is plate runs out friday too!!!!)
Well just got back from yard, whilst waiting for the breakdown tried to buy some batts, but have to order them. Breakdown man confirmed it was batts. Nothing we can do as no batts at 3 different places. She did phone for transport and from £350 to £400 .so my friend isn't taking her horse to Monty Roberts as she has to be there by 11am and last time she loaded him it took over 4 hours. Its about 100 miles to get there and also have to compete with traffic on M25 and M1 rush hour, on a Friday morning. Am even more peed off and OH will be getting it in the neck BIG TIME.
Do you have an agricultural supplier near you - our local one stocks heavy duty batteries and I just drove there with the battery in my car and they found me an equivalent within 5 minutes.
