Knew it would'nt be fit for hunting round here, so we decided to go to the beach yesterday, crap weather set in so today, little windy, but sunny so loaded up and off we went to hit a massive hailstorm

Then it peed it down, so turned the box round and came home agian

Poor horses wondered what was going on, good job we don' t live far from the beach!!

We didn't go either - hunting, that is. Thought I'd go for a hack and got absolutely drowned, battered by hail and frozen. Horse played up on last 500yards so ended up giving him 20mins hard work in the paddock and two more trips up the road to make him WALK home. I am defrosting, now I have dried horse and pony off, fed them, peeled my sopping clothes off and had third shower of the day! Happy New Year everybody!!!!! * thinks of soup, hot water bottles, duvets, roaring fires... *

My lot are having a day off due to the gale force winds. And add to that the sleet/rain and you have a very horrible day weather wise. However, they've all had the full works grooming session so having been at it for five hours, I'm now ready to have a glass of wine and watch Seabiscuit!

Happy New Year! (but roll on spring....)

Will have to ask my mum if she saw you hacking round the village!! I'm coming past later, going for family tea! Still need to go and ride, but totally de-motivated now, just wanted to have some fun today

Looks like I was dead lucky. I can see the Fylde coast from our yard (even though we're a good 25/30 miles away) but I rode out on both mine and didn't get wet. It got very dark a couple of times but I think the clouds must have emptied themselves on you guys before they got to us up in the hills.

I hacked mine, yet again in the peeing down rain! and have just come in from fixing the land rover, also, in the peeing down f**king, god-damn awful rain!
i cant wait for spring, i wouldn't mind if it was cold and dry but its soooooo wet all the time and the cold winds wont bu**er off either!
right, off to put them to bed. into the fifth set of clothes for today! x x

I was lucky then as I went out for a hack at 10am and the sun was shining! It was megga windy with gusts too on the top of the hills but we got round dry. Having said that, it is just starting to lash down with rain again!!!

We rode at midday and just about made it in one peice! The most difficult thing is that I am breaking one at the moment and cant afford time off! Its so frustrating - bring on the spring! Cold and dry is fine - peeing it down with gale force winds is not - I cant even convince the dog to go out for a walk at the moment! Oh and admittedly I cant convince myself - we're both sat in front of the fire LOL

You'll be thrilled to hear it's been lovely in the South East then

Rode 5 today and didn't get wet at all. Plenty of puddles after last night's rain though (can't believe we've still got a hosepipe ban).

Yup beautiful on Essex/Suffolk border if a little windy although that too had died down late afternoon. Wish I had something sane enough to hunt would have been lurvely!

you were better staying at home

i went to watch them set off, the ground was so muddy! one little pony nearly drowned going through some a puddle of mud it was so deep
loads of peolpe fell off before they set off

one of the riders fell off, the horse galloped down the hill towards the gate, as it was muddy it slipped onto its bum and went chariring into an old lady stood by the gate
she was unconsios when we left

then a land rover blocked me friends car in so we couldnt get out

We meant to go hunting, but FLora cut herself (see vets forum) and by the time the vet had sorted her out it was too late to go. Hacked the other 2 out and then watched the racing/seabiscuit all afternoon).
Didn't get wet though fortunately but there were a couple of v heavy showers in the afternoon.
Hope all the folk who got soaked have dried out now.
