Today Team Racehorse went on an outing for a general schooling morning. Bee went to do some 'grown up' XC and have her first session on grass away from home and Reggie to do some SJ course practise and build on their new SJ tactic away from the arena.
Bee first- what can I say, she was awesome! Settled down straight away and worked really nicely- her trot is so lovely, really getting there and the canter and walk are really getting there. Lots of transition practise to do, but generally really going well. She did deck Al out hacking the other day. Important lesson no. 1: after baby pony has 5 days off, lunge her. Because when you go into trot, she will buck you off...
Video shows how awesome she was XC. She absolutely loves it, tackles every fence with the same enthusiasm and only had baby moments at the ditch and water for a few seconds before bobbing off and being cute again. Absolutely nothing phased, it was all kept very low-key and easy for her and her and Al had a whale of a time.

And Reg had a brief SJ session and really went nicely. He didn't take a fence down behind once, and only had one down in front when it was put up from a cross to a big upright and what with the slightly tighter turn, he just didn't register in time. Poor dim pony... Jumped beautifully the second time, slowly going back up to where they were before and he's a lot more confident. So onwards and upwards I hope, he certainly looks happier.
He also enjoys a travelling companion and doesn't turn the lorry into a sauna when she's with him... Very odd- he does with other horses, but I think Bee is fearsome enough for him to think she'd take anything on before it could get to him

Next up is stressage on Sunday- Intro B and Prelim 1 for Bee and Prelim 7 for Reg. More plaiting... Bee's mane makes her look even more downhill than she actually is, so that needs hiding!
