So, another outing for Billy today, off to do some affiliated dressage! He was ridden on Friday AND Saturday this week, so twice more than last week so hoping he would do better than Sunday :p After his 3 leg washes ( what will become the norm I sadly suspect – going to cost me a fortune in stain remover!) I gave up trying to remove the stain and instead just pasted his legs white with chalk :o Pity I also ended up chalky white. In my defense, there is a LOT of leg to paste :p
Very very very long day for Billy today, left home at 9.30am as YO was on earlier (and earlier than we both knew; we both managed to not see the correct time) and home at 6.30pm  So a rushed warm up for YO and then jammy dodger had a lovely test, and did very well!

Then after a lot of hanging about, till 4pm, I tried to get onto billy. Unfortunatley this has become a slight issue, been having problems getting on (not helped by our combined efforts on Friday) as he either walks back or turns when I go to his side to get on. Eventually got on, and away we went!
First test was Prelim 10, nice test to ride as really flows :) Billy really relaxed into the test, and was enjoying himself (until I realised his canter had become boat like and I had to regain dingy sized canter so we could circle) and did a really lovely test, good enough to achieve 68.63% and 1st :D

Second test was Prelim 18. This test was not so good, as by the time it was our turn everyone else had left the area (or for all Billy knew, the world) and so it was a case of Billy-no-mates! The test was interesting, as because everything had left, Billy-no-mates-wanted-some-mates! So he was whinnying and calling throughout the entire test (which was interesting to ride – his whole body shakes when neighing, as he seems to put a lot of effort into getting is as loud as possible) meaning a recurrent theme appeared on the marking sheet, words like “inattentive” and “hurried” :o
Got 61.66% which was alright, not great but he is only 4/5 (or 4 and 8 months to be exact) but strangely enough good for 2nd!

Sorry no photos, but shall leave you all on this bombshell – Billy and I have joined Dressage Ireland  and today’s results mean that we have qualified for the Winter Champs, and now have 6 shiney points!!

Aw bless him well done...now go do some jump schooling before you stay on the dark side and never leave the ground again hee hee

Thanks Angelish, misty and nickirhia :D

It is quite hard to get these lines out of my head "Billy don't be my hero" :p

I soo wanted to call him BillyDontBeMy :p chicken'd out though :p

I know amage, I really need to do some jumping! Hopefully will jump him at home this week and then local unaff combined training on sunday :)

well, I was counting how many people today had bits of dead sheep/blingy browbands...!

Trying to persuade YO (new dressage diva) to get some diamantés for her hat, or let me spray hairspray on her boots to become proper posh ;) Or at least some white boots!

Can't see me becoming blingy, as a) having a coloured horse means I stand out and B) the fact that he is 17hh means people take notice anyways :p

Even if I do try and blend into my surroundings by wearing tweed and green ;)

Aww well done, he sounds like a wee(!) star :) You going to the champs then?

Ps Annies legs are perfectly white every day :p I dont know how though!! lol

Bless him! :D Well done Billy-No-Mates :D

Mally does a impressive full body whinny too, although only when she's not working, so hopefully it won't happen when she's being ridden!

For his legs, if you haven't already, try Champion Tails Restoring Shampoo Silver HIghlights. It's fab stuff, mega thick purple shampoo, never failed to get Hen's legs sparkly white, and he had even more leg to get clean - 17hh and 10 inches of bone! If they are mega dirty or greasy use plain old Fairy Liquid first.
At least his tail is dark! :D

Bless him, what a good boy. Owning a coloured with long white stockings, Mini TX sympathises with your plight and our chalk block is well used as well. The only way we find to keep legs clean is huge amounts of gamgee which go as high up the hocks and knees as possible and stable bandages. However, she always manages to get green hocks oddly enough. Also, Diamond White shampoo which is an alarming shade of purple seems to work on dirty coloured be atches.

Thanks PS :D

Nicole, hate you right now. Billys legs will only ever be truely white when he rolls in some strategically placed white chalk! Dunno, might go, not really sure when they are :p YO is going for the novice, so I may tag along :D
May have to buy a navy jacket though...

Thanks Booboos :) If it wasnt a dressage test I would be laughing at him :p Even better was the fact that my trainer was judging and my YO was scribing...! Great

Thanks kirstyhen :D May try that next, as current gallop shampoo is useless! too watery and thin, need proper stuff ;)

Thanks TheoryXI :) Although I had bandaged his legs overnight, (after the 2nd wash) he managed to chew/stand on them and pulled two of them off  my bandaging is quite good, so definately didnt fall down! May try that shampoo as well!

Thanks Jumptoit and frannieUK :D

Gallop stuff is useless, you need hardcore stuff when it comes to white ponies! :D

Thank goodness for shiny bay ponies, it's such a novelty having a pony that looks clean just after a brush! :D

Ahh but she'll be dusty in the summer, even when you have just bathed - there is no such thing as a perfick colour ;):D

i have to say i think that dark bay with no white socks is perfect... V always looks shiney even when i aven't brushed him especially well. unfortunately he does have two white socks which he insists on pooing down at shows despite my best efforts to keep him bandaged up as long as possible

anyway, back to Billy- excellent, super results, well done! i second Diamond White shampoo - you can buy it at the hairdressers- its what little old ladies use to keep their grey super bright and shiney- its VERY purple but brilliant stuff... :D

Well done both of you! Billy the kid is turning into a real star! Im sure your bursting with pride! Awe, great start to the year for you both! Hope my reports are half as good, when im out and about again!
