Thought you might like to see a bit of vid taken this evening of my youngest, Sky, who I am finally starting to school with a bit more intent! Have been waiting for her to grow physically and mentally...the first bit is there, not so sure about the second, but then she is a mare, so she might never be completely pliable!

Anyway, we are practising canter transitions, and were doing pretty well to the left

then we tried a little to the right, and pretty much due to me going a bit floppy, we had a little broncing session!

Please excuse my riding on occasion - I'm getting to grips with riding something completely different to my boy - she has so much energy and is so forward going that I have to get used to it, but I'm blown away with her balance and cadence :) She was 5 in April.

Gorgeous... I love her hind leg, and she looks like she's got some motor in her. Stunning looking girly as well with her own 'fly fringe' look! :)

I only got my first decent stepping-under-not-running-off-into-it transition from my boy today (thanks to fabulous half-halt exercise from amazing new instructor) and he's 10!!

Thank you all!

Trish C - I love her hindleg too, always underneath and coming through, but does make it quite *worrying* sometimes, knowing you have all that power beneath you. I think she is very like her Dad in her movement - Goshka Festivo.

She was trying to run away with me a bit down the long side in her first attempts yesterday, so my friend suggested trotting figure of 8s and asking her to canter going into the corner, then she is steadied naturally - seems to work well.

Right canter will come when we practise it more :)

I'm working myself up gradually to being more confident with her - at present the scariest thing I could imagine would be heading into a large field for a gallop.....don't think I would make it to the end as she might 'enjoy' herself a little too much! Dying to jump her too, but ditto the slight nerves!

Lovely mare and a gorgeous view...but I love how you call that 'broncing'...I wish mine had bronced in such a polite manner, rather than assuming that his role in life is as a catapault!

Ha Kat,

fortunately, I know it's not full on broncing (think the reason I worry is that I watch her in the field doing it properly and causing herself to fall over!) as I nip it in the bud, but to someone who doesn't have 'quite' as much nerve as they used to 15 odd years ago, that'll do nicely!

Thanks Mrs Wishkabibble!

I wish that was my menage, but it belongs to a friend just over the hill from me. It is in a divine place, and I wish I could look and appreciate the view a bit more as I ride there!

We just have the field and spend most of our time spooking in it (despite the fact that she lives with all the scary leaves, crows, rabbits and blades of grass 24/7!), hence not much 'applied' schooling done before now. She is easier to teach out hacking.
