Firstly, had another lesson with Ruth edge on Monday, she seems to really like her, she thinks she has a good attitude.. So that's always good! We did a lot more cantering which is coming on great and started to try and do some leg yielding.

Onto today, took her upto eland lodge for some XC schooling! In hindsight, maybe I should have got her jumping a bit bigger in the school first because the mini didn't seem as mini as I remember! And they've changed the course to go the other way so everything seems to be downhill!!

Anyway, she started off a little bit sticky. She climbed over their hay rack which wasn't pretty! But we persevered and then something seemed to click and she thought 'oh I can do this!' and she popped all the way round beautifully. We even did some of the novice jumps.😊

She did steps up and down absolutely no bother (except she fell in a bit of a heap at the bottom of the down ones.. Bless her don't think she is used to undulations yet!).

They've only really got one ditch which is quite a proper ditch not a piddly thing. So she stood looking at it for a second but didn't seem like she was going to go, so I turned her away and came back to it, she did a big baby jump but then after that jumped it like a pro.

Water - the actual water jump had no water in it so I tried the other one which wasn't flagged and a bit manky looking.. She wasn't keen. Planting herself a little. Probably not the best thing to do but I jumped off and led her through. She followed straight away and then when I got back on she wanted to trot through! I think she thought it was quite nice / fun in the end.

So all in all I'm feeling really positive. I feel a bit bad for her that she wasn't fully prepared but she was loving it from about half way through and didn't look at a thing. So hopefully no harm done. She was also knackered! Even though I hardly broke out of a trot! More fitness work needed!!

So the plan now, have a walk trot test at fieldhouse on Sunday and hoping to do a round of SJ too. Then going to somerford farm ride next monday.

Might be a push but I'm still hoping she will do this event in July..

Thanks for reading!!

Well done for doing that with a mini one, having the energy and time is a struggle. New horse sounds very promising, and it's always nice when people like them!

I was hoping for some piccies though :p ;)

Thanks SF. I was hoping too but I only took my mother who can't really use a phone properly and was also looking after the mini one.🙄 I'll drag husband along on Sunday to get some pics!

I went back to work this week too.. So busy times ahead.

I'm really enjoying riding her. I like riding babies I find it less stressful!

Enjoy being back at work, I certainly wasn't designed to be a full time sahm!

My mum also fails on the camera front (I can't see the screen!) even if she doesn't have a grandchild to look after :D

I enjoyed the first week at work.. So I think I'm glad I went back.

Found out I'm Preggo again as well. So won't be back at work for too long!😁

Sounds a lovely positive trip (and glad you're being hassled for pics too :D). Quite agree with how dangerous their shop is too ;).
