Baby Number 2! (with pics) and a couple pics of Baby Number 1

Well, our WB mare finally had her baby last night after keeping us on tenterhooks fo rthe past 5 nights (her calcium levels were over 200 for the past 4 days and hit 300 the night before last and was nearly 400 last night so she had to finally let go!!!

All went very well and baby is VERY healthy with VERY long legs. Abbey colicked slightly and we had the vet out to give her a jab but other than that all is great and mum and baby are very happy and healthy.

Below are some not great pics of them last night. Will get some better ones later today. For breeding buffs mum is Royal Que (Beachtime x Sussex Diamond x Arctic Que) and dad is El Thuder (Thunder Van De Zuuthoeve x Larome x Goldspring de Lauzelle) and dad is certainly stamping his babies.

and last night Tasie decided that Max needed covering up when he finally went to slepp - she nearly buried him in the straw completely!!!

I'm so jealous, my mare is 352 days gone today and yesterday I had my breeding friend come to look at her and he reckons at least another 2 days if not more - ARGH!!!

Glad both foalings went well for you, they are lovely mares too

They are definately timewasters!!! New baby has dried off to be a very rich red bay and is soooo fine and delicate - like porcelain and is very friendly. Both he and mum were exhausted all day yesterday so we didn't fuss them too much but are gonna get some pics later if the weather is nice enough.

Tucking him in I think…..they’d been kept up late by the very inconsiderate foaling mare next door! And it was way past his bedtime!

Thanks Claire – We are very pleased and proud of them. Definitely think that using El Thuder was a fab decision…he complimented both mare’s in just the right ways. Not using his again this year as have the WB mare booked in for Chateau de Brion Quainton but would definitely be a contender again for a repeat breeding.
