Anyone know anything about using them?

My horse is very nervous of the farrier, tried to give her a calmer but she hated it even disguised with treacle etc. Was wondering about trying rescue remedy.....

A woman at a livery yard I worked at used Bach Flower remedies on her mother and daughter combo for every ailment they had. Daughter has competed and is amazing, mother was laid to rest when she was a very mature lady.

I now give my skittish mare a dose of rescue remedy whenever she looks like she might be spooky on a ride. I tried it when she had the farrier and now I don't need anything for her - it seems to have helped.

It may even be psychological but it works so who cares!

Personally I do not believe in them (cannot get my head round the scientific research that says they do not contain anything useful), but a friend swears by them and is a practitioner in herbal remedies, bach remedies and essential oils for animals and humans. She has helped me in the past even though I am a sceptic:cool: I would give it a try - nothing to loose.

I have to say it isn't something I would normally be into but thought it worth a try.

Mare won't let me syringe anything into her mouth so that limits the options, and she is already having magnitude in her feed. I had some rescue remedy and tried her with the human dose first thing and she is happy to have it squirted on a mint or even to just lick it off my hand, which is very different to the utter suspcion with which she regarded Naf instant magic!

So how much do I need to give her to have an effect? How long before?

I'm open to other suggestions too, I'm just keen to get her shod without resorting to sedation.
