A bit of a pointless post but just wanted to write a bit about the great holiday I have had. I had been feeling like I was a rubbish rider, haven't done much jumping in the past couple of years and tend to be a bit of a wimp. My loan horse has just gone back to his owner and I wanted to do some fun riding so I booked a holiday at Flowerhill's in Ireland (hope this isn't advertising, I'm not being paid!).

They are mainly set up for cross country which I find can be really hard to practice much, particularly if like me you don't have a suitable horse. There are loads of jumps - even though the ground was v wet we jumped lots of different jumps. Most we did were 2'6" ish or smaller, I think there were some higher ones around. A lot of logs and straightforward fences but we also jumped into and out of water and did drops and things.

We were encouraged to ride in a balanced rhythmical canter and ride correct lines so not just gung-ho.

The horses were fantastic, forward going but would come back to you and felt really safe. Usually we were given a lead then followed on which made me feel braver. I rode 3 different horses a day, 2 in the morning and then 1 in the afternoon, probably roughly 2 1/2 - 3 hours riding a day I guess.

Everyone was really friendly and I think it was excellent value for money.

I know a lot of people struggle with confidence, and I do too, and I think this is a great way to have feel safe and have fun and realise that you *can* jump!
