I posted a few days ago about my horses both being ill/injured.
The mare who has been ill since June and had over two months in hospital only came home at the beginning of October. She went back today for another check up (three and a half hours drive each way) and while I was there, I asked for them to have a look at her fetlock which had been swollen and hot for a couple of weeks, but no lameness. They gave her a full lameness work up which showed mild response to flexion tests on the joint, so they did an x-ray. X-ray, as I suspected has shown a chipped bone and she now has to stay in again until they can operate next week. They suspect that it has been there since she was in racing, but for some reason has only decided to manifest itself now. I think I will start getting shares in the vet hospital as she's been up there nearly as long as the time she's had home with me! Anyone had any experience of having a chipped bone removed and what the recovery was like?

Oh dear your poor horse.......and you!! I hope she is covered by insurance!

A girl at a livery yard I was at had her mare's hock operated on to remove a bone chip and she was riding it again after a relatively short period of re-hab.

Sorry I can't be more help but good luck with your horse.
