Wasn't the most successful day but not bad for us, considering the amount of practice we've been doing!!

Dressage - not great at all, but that was pretty expected cos he's only been schooled once since September!

But he did everything, I remembered it and we stayed within the boards!

Thanks for your help on give and retake the rains guys - I did what you said and he kinda ran off a bit.

Got 44.8 which doesn't sound that bad but I was pretty low in my section. Note to self - must try harder with Dressage!!!!

Onto SJ, he warmed up great but was a bit on the keen side, the course was very twisty but not that big. Things were going great at the beginning, because it was twisty he didn't have chance to get away from me and he was jumping fab.
smile.gif
He got a bit fast over the double at #6 then took a bit of a flyer at #7 and then we were slighty out of control!
tongue.gif
Had to do a bit of a handbrake turn into #8 which was a gate and we got a sh*t stride so he had that down, then powered on over number 9 and I missed my turn back to the last so had to circle.

So 8 faults. Not great but he jumped well and I can't really blame him for the pilot error at the end.

XC he was fab!

It was a really easy course to be honest but it was a good confidence giving round for both of us. Again brakes started to fail towards the end of the course which makes me think I need to start trying new bits again.

I'm hoping he might settle more when he gets into fat lazy summer mode!

So thats my riding finished now for a month or so.

Me and Badge have really enjoyed ourselves today though so I'm gonna get my money paid to BE and plan some events!!

How did everyone else get on there today?? i know there were a few HHOers going. Only caught up with KatB..

Thank you Boss!
smile.gif
I hope he is going to be good XC... my mum and dad think I should just go strait to PN but I'm not convinced myself!

Are you Sarah on Badger? I know there was an HH person of that name. If so I saw your SJ as I was warming up

We had an, er, interesting time. I knew she'd be a loon in the dressage so got on an hour early. True to form she was a nutter and looked like she'd gone round the xc before we'd even started

However she knuckled down a bit in the test and got a 39.5 which I was very pleased with considering.

On to the SJ, and I made the mistake of bunging on big spurs. Why oh why????! Anyway she took a flyer at the first fence and unseated me. I was clinging on round her neck and god knows how I stayed on! I managed to clamber back into the sadde eventually but had to turn a circle otherwise she'd have gone over no2 with me half-off.....she went clear after that but obviously 4 faults and about 13 time penalties.

I wanted to take the xc nice and steady as we're rather out of practice and not that fit but she had other ideas. We flew round and only had a minor blip at the water. She went in ok between the flags then suddenly decided she didn't like it so leapt out the side edge and needed some coaxing to go back in. So not sure if they penalised that or not!

Anyway, a great day, it's a lovely place isn't it? A bit ring-rusty but a nice start to the season

Yep thats me!!

Well done!! It's a fantastic place isn't it, have you not been before?? The ground was great too which is quite impressive for this time of year.

No it was my first visit there. Shall definitely be going back. The ground was that good I almost didn't bother with studs. To come back from an ODE in February with no mud to clean off has got to be a miracle.

Badger's lovely btw, a very good colour!

When i was getting ready for the dressage my mum was asking me if I wanted studs in - until I reminded her he hasn't got stud holes yet!

He didn't slip at all though.

Thanks - I like the grey ones best too!!

Im abit of a newbie to the forum but i was there, the ground was fab and it managed to hold of from raining in my dressage and sj so that was even better. I had one horse in the novice and one in the open.
The novice horse did a reasonable test but not great but he ended up 2nd after dressage so judge must have liked him. he went sj clear although rather spookey and fast and XC clear, very good confidence giving XC course. He actually ended up winning his class so was very happy with that.
Open horse did what i thought was a very good test but this time the judge didnt think so so i was nowhere near after that. Hes not the best showjumper but did a nice round considering how much practice hes had and just tapped the last to have 4 faults. XC he flew.
So all in all a very good day but bit dissapointed about the open horses Dressage mark.
I dont know anyone from here but glad to hear you had good days too.

Thanks - I've got the small set back of having a boob job on Wednesday though

Well done!

We had a fun day my 5yo did a 29.1 dressage, 1 down SJ and clear XC to finish 3rd in the novice. Then Tog did a 31.4 dressage, same 1 down SJ and clear XC to finish 10th in the open.

I love Osberton with ground that good its just so nice ot have a good canter about, we hadn't XC schooled since last autumn so was quite dubious as to whether any brakes woudl be there but they were!!

Well done!! It's the best place ever RE ground isn't it. Never seems to get that hard in the summer either. I'd just love to live there - would be great hacking just to canter on all those lovely grass verges with the little logs dotted about!
