My horse came home yesterday from Rockley after a 3 month re-hab there. I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum who advised me to contact Nic Barker and to think about sending him there. It took everything - mentally and financially to get him to Rockley and I have spent the best part of 3 months on tenterhooks...

Well, I have never seen him look so well, so happy and so comfortable in his own skin :D Oscar had a host of issues to deal with (see my first thread: Advice on Barefoot please) and my vet was to say the least skeptical. I know we still have a long way to go, but I now know it was the best decision I could have made.

He even likes being groomed now and I can only put that down to his muscles not being stressed by an awkward stance created by pain in his feet, whereas before he was very grumpy about it! I only wish I had listened to him sooner.
He is standing squarer than he ever has done and has his length of stride back. Yes, he is still a bit ouchy over stones, but I know we will get there and one day soon he will be competing again.
Nic is wonderful, knowledgeable and a true expert in her field. Thank you :D:D

Great news!! :)

Fingers crossed he continues going from strength to strength.

Soli came back a different horse, sooo much friendlier, easy to handle and an angel to hack, dont know what she does to them but I definitely approve :p

If anyone can work miracles, Nic can!!

*smug smile*

Congrats to you and Oscar.

Nic's secret is she takes away the pain. Then you see the real horse again.

Now back from the cocoon of Rockley, the hard work begins for you. And the worry and panic and the constant wondering if you're doing the right thing......:)

But you'll have a steep learning curve and before you know it, you'll be on this forum banging on about barefoot.

And everyone will snort and call you a fanatic;)

I've never dared post about the behaviour changes, for fear of being jumped on for exaggerating, but it's fantastic isn't it??

Well done you and Oscar!
