Can anybody help i have a young loan pony who we thought had choke. She has been a the vets for 3 days and all they could find was a narrowing of the esophagus. I am told to feed her every 2hours no hay ect. Has anyone come across this before is it on going forever or will it sort out help i have no answers

Hi
You need to speak to your vet again to get the answers you are after; that's what you are paying them for! Perhaps write down some questions eg. what has caused the narrowing? is it permanent etc.

I had this years ago with a mare i owned, it went on for months, she couldnt eat any hay.

She went off to vets where she had suspected grass sickness at one stage.

They basically gave her some sedatives which relaxed her osophegus, (acp) and it cleared it up, was very odd but worked! I think i gave her acp for awhile afterwards too, its quite awhile ago, but sounds very similar to yours, she would choke all the time. I think she always had her food wet, and could never eat nuts.
