My horse never used to do this but now he's started putting his back up when I get on I give hime a free rein then he seettles into the contact anything else would buck me off i'm sure he feels like he wan'ts to buck can a horse suddenly become cold backed saddle checked teeth done he can't be any more comfortable in the tack I have anyone had the same experience, thanks.
 
My horse has recentlystarted doing this hacking before he tries to buck me off, he is checked religiously by everyone as he had a big op last year. My physio cleared his back but said that he felt slightly sore around his jaw, so although he has 6 monthly check ups, I am going to get the dentist out just in case as am wondering if he has some sharp teeth or soreness.

If I am being honest I guess I think my horse is playing up a bit (he is normally very well behaved ridden!) it seems that everyone I know is having issues with there horses being a bit temperamental at the moment, possibly time of year, so i can't decide whether to give him the benefit of the doubt or not! (he has been given that benefit quite a few times lately!)
 
Yes Beth H I realy feel the same as you I have had a physio out and teeth done every six months and he is checked but he is also being a bit bolshy which I put down to time of year as he jumps perfectly alright out hunting its just when I get on, thanks.
 
I've had two horses with kissing spine, and the first one was just like that, he would be very tense and cold backed when I first got on him, and occasionaly would launch into a full bronco routine. However, once he had taken two or three steps forward he was OK, and NEVER bucked at any other time. Not saying this is KS, but could be any number of back isues. In your position I would have it fully checked by a vet (most serious problems only identified accurately by scans and X-rays) and once you have ruled out pain then consider that he may be playing up.
 
My horse had Kissing spines surgery last year and I would say that his behaviour is a lot to do with learned experience from being in pain however he was never able to lift his back as a kissing spine usually means they have trouble with upwards flexion of the spine (I do appreciate all cases are different!). Since surgery he has realised he can lift his back to great effect now it has been freed up, especially when bucking and now uses it as a bit of a weapon although he really is not a nasty horse.

I think he uses previous experience as an excuse to be very temperamental when he feels like it which is why I suspect he is throwing his toys out of the pram as it is cold and miserable and he doesn't want to hack out - he is fine in school. I do take Tass's point though, maybe you could try a second opinion on a back check and see where you go from there.
 
I would advise getting back checked. My girly did the same including bucking in canter, has been diagnosed with kissing spines and a sacroilliac injury. Don't know how it happened, could have been a fall in the field? Good luck
