So I've just come back to riding this year, after not having horses since 2000!
i bought a young 12hh pony for the children and I to share in May. He was 5& very green. I brought him on, taught him to canter, jump and had lots of fun with him. Meanwhile my boys lost interest really in tiding, preferring to do the yard work?!
around gnat time a 14.2 dutch warmblood mare owned by YO was for sale. I'd never even seen her until this was mentioned In conversation one day.
long story short, my mum bought her for me ( bless her!), we sold little pony and I've now had the mare - who actually measures 15hh and is improving every day - for a couple of months.
She is only 5, but so brave and very genuine.
in gone last week she has given me such pleasure ( when everything else has been stressful ; loss of job, new career planning, my own back pain, ill health in the family varying from sickness bug to cancer ). We have done two rides to the forest including proper gallops!
Then today, as my mum was around to watch my littlest boy, I set up a small course of jumps in the school! My super mare has only really jumped as free schooling, but didn't put a hoof wrong! She jumped big, but safe, confidently and happily! I had a smile on my face throughout. I probably jumped 18 ins/ 2 foot, but given that I've not jumped for at least 16 years, mare is young etc I am just SOOOO PROUD! I can't stop smiling!
This seems such an achievement as since turning 30, having two kids etc I see danger everywhere and done like risks!
anyway I just thought I'd share and invite everyone to share their small achievements or things that made them smile today! :)

Congrats! :biggrin3: I've never been hugely confident over jumps and I'm familiar with that little adrenaline rush of fear as you approach a small cross pole having not jumped for a few years. Hope you have loads of fun with your new horse.

A pushy 2yr old hoping for apples who kept shoving her nose in my hands and whickering at me was what made me smile today.

Well done!
I know very well the difficulties of small children and having horses, such little things become huge achievements. Being able to school for more than 20mins is my current big achievement! (although today was rather crap horse wise, but tomorrow is another day!)

Ah I love hearing other peoples pleasures and successes!
Riding full stop is a challenge when you have little people around!
Well done everyone and thanks for the well dones.
I'm chuckling at the thought of nannon's horse grinning - that's what I thought mine looked like the other day.
