Hi,
Horse is getting a bone scan in 2 weeks as has lots of tension and pain in the SI region.
Looking for something to help him while on rest and for the future.
Have seen the back on track mesh rugs wich would be great 24hrs a day 365 days a year to help him. anyone used them?

Also loking at the eqilibriu, pads- however most of his paid is SI region- could i move the pad down to this region to help him more for his problem?
Obviously I would remain with him as straps wouldnt be inplace!

Anyone have anyother ideas what ia could do to help him?
Have access to solarium too- would that help at all??

Thanks

The horses seem to enjoy equilibrium pads and I can't see any problem with moving it further back - the horses seem to enjoy them so can't believe it would do any harm even if they didn't do any good.

i use the equilibrium massage pad for my lad, the thing to remember is the everything on the horse is interlinked so by massaging the back it will help release tension in the SI area. i would have to say i don't think it would stay in place on the SI area, also i know that vets have been known recommend ultrasound treatment for SI, might be worth looking into

I love my equilibrium massage pad-also bought it with the magnet pad and you can get an extension for the SI region.

OAP Pony loves the massager and it has helped his hind legs and SI region so he's more mobile now-his back person now does less and less with his back! This is through DAILY use

Thanks Pat!

I am indeed an agent for Back on Track and also use them on a day to day basis with my horses.

With regards the mesh rug I use it as I would a summer sheet for layering beneath my horses rugs during the winter. When used on it's own in the summer I find it is breathable however once I layer it, even with a cooler it no longer acts that way.

I also have an equissage on the yard which I now just save for show days. I find that the BoT rugs are much less of a faff as the horses can keep them on 24hrs a day (although they should have a break every 3 weeks or so) I found with the equissage (and I imagine it would be the same with the equilibrium) that when I was short on time it was really annoying to have to wait for the 20min cycle to finish.

I have found that my horses have been mentally more willing to work after using the rugs as well as physically more able and I found that last year in all the really cold weather I never had to bother with an exercise sheet as they came out with their muscles already warmed up and I was able to crack on so much sooner. I also found that I wasn't panicking too much about them cooling down afterwards either as the rugs helped to keep everything flowing as it should.

Feel free to PM me if you would like anymore info.
