So my eventers just been diagnosed with arthritic changes in the facet joints of the thoracic region of his spine (mouthful i know!) my current thought is to go down the medication route (osphos) then with the correct rehab program build him back up etc (just a rough idea as i can waffle on!)

So i've been looking at the back on track rugs for a while and now we have the diagnosis i want to aid his recovery the best i can so i'm interested to see if any of you guys have used them, both in the medical sense and everyday use and whether they're a worthwhile investment?

I've got a mesh one but not used it enough yet to know if it's worth it. Now weather is colder I'm going to use it as an under rug every night (horse with sore back, sacroiliac injury and PSSM). It's a nice quality rug but sadly doesn't fit mine brilliantly round the neck. I can't do up the top chest strap or it strangles him, that's my only issue with it. Looking forwards to seeing if it helps.

Fig gives his the thumbs up. We have no problem with fit, but then we always do the top strap up looser to avoid them sitting on manes.

Thanks for replying guys :) definitely thinking of using it as an under rug and see how we get on. Luckily my two horses are the same rug size so they can play swapsies and see how we get on!

I've got the mesh rug, and really rate it. I find it a very flexible fit, a 145cm rug fits both my 15.3 maxicob (normally in a 6'6") and my 15.3 sports horse (normally a 6'3"). There is plenty of adjustment around the front buckles to customise the fit.

Yeah I should say that 99% of rugs strangle my pony, I only have a couple (weatherbeeta and the sadly leaky ruggles) that fit him so not back on tracks fault!
