I've somehow injured my back and the cause is unknown. Anyway whilst I am waiting for hospital appointments etc I'd just like to plod round the school to keep Chester ticking over so I'm in need of a good reasonably priced back support.

I injured my back in January. I bought the Prolite back support but found that it actually made things worse. Following a couple of months of downing Nurofen and Paracetamol I decided to have 3 weeks off (just did lots of lunging and turn out) I've come back better but still stiff. I am going to continue with regular physio now. What helped immensely though was one physio recognized that my pelvis is crooked and 'cracked' it back into place. I don't know how old you are but I am only 18 so was not expecting it be as big a problem as it has turned into!

I don;t know if any of this helps but I know how frustrating it is - you have my sympathy! Oh by the way there is a big article on back pain and riding in this weeks horse and hound :)

Thanks. Im 28 and have had back pain for as long as i can remember but never this bad. The worst thing is i cant even take or use anti inflamatories so just co-codamol. Im thinking of trying acupuncture just so i can have a tiny bit of pain relief

Mmmm, sometimes wearing a "support" is actually the worse thing you can do as muscles can sometimes atrophy if not needing to work.

Personally I'd seek out some recommendations for a good "back person" in your area and book an appointment.

Unfortunately I've zilch faith in the NHS; conventional doctors just can't think straight as far as pain & backs are concerned and IMO with a dicky bad were just naff-all good TBH. As much good as a P!ss in the ocean. So I saw someone privately and am on the way to getting sorted, but if you wait for the NHS you'll wait forever.

Its took NHS a year to sort my back out. Had the op for sciatica. I am still stiff and get pain down my leg. The op was good and worth it, but the healing was ok if they could see it was infected, took them 2 weeks to see it was not right and took forever to heal as had to have it packed every day for 3 and half weeks. Been told pain in leg will go. Pain in my back gone. To ride again well worth it. Good luck with urs xx

Try an armadillo back support
It's great support and has magnets in it so helps blood flow to the injured area. It makes my back nice and warm and do hurts less as well
